GLYC Easter Regatta - 02/23/14 07:27 AM

Hi All,

Gippsland Lakes YC Easter Regatta is on again, it's the Easter Regatta with a difference, you can do Long Distance races up to 30nm without covering the same ground, Round the Island and around the bouys races. Join some of the fastest Mossies in OZ racing on the same courses as Trailable Multis, keelboats, Trailer Sailers and OTB Monos. cool

NOR is here, a must do regatta.

Hi all,

looks like a minimum of 6 Mossies at Paynesville for the Easter Regatta, likely to be 1 more and others possible. Line up is Peter N, Neil J, Matt & Tash, Daniel and I.

So come along and race the fastest Mossies in OZ. cool

Wind looks good for the weekend grin , mind you one site could be over the top 39kts Saturday eek.

But 2 others are only up to 25knots, should be fun grin.

Mind you whatever the wind does, you can only ever please one Stone brother cry.

Hi Jeremy,

thanks so much for helping to increase the Mossie fleet at the GLYC Easter Regatta, would have loved to have you here, but lending your boat to Pat is the next best thing grin. 7 Mossies and wind, all is looking good cool.

Hi all,

Long distance race Saturday was awesome, wind mostly 15-20 knots, heaps of spinnaker work and beating. Daniel was late for the start, Pat got "sea sick" confused and retired, Matt and Tash are sailing sloop with Spinnaker and almost passed me a few times, Pete had a swim but finished. Massive race 3hrs 32min to cover roughly 30 nautical miles. cool

Re: GLYC Easter Regatta - 04/21/14 10:28 AM

Hi all,

Sunday, Around Raymond Island race was far more exciting than expected, with the wind picking up just before we left the beach grin. Ended up being 15 to 25knots west-south west, or more like 25 to 15 as it started windier than it finished. Pete had another swim and let Pat past, Daniel was sloop as well as Matt and a bit slow off the start. I managed to get away at the start and through the straits without getting held up, followed by a wild kite ride down Lake King eek , that gave me flashbacks of the Nats at Meningie blush . Finishing in a time of 60 minutes 40 seconds, still well outside Neils time of 54minute in a big easterly blow.

Monday's around the buoys race was the opposite, a drifter frown 2 hours of slow motion, but a nice change with a bit of sun smile Neil finaly turned up late sloop with a new young crew, but was too late to start so joined in at the top of the first beat, I was worried about Pete taking off like at the States, but got the best of the shifts and cleared away from him and Daniel, and kept whispering along to finish well ahead cool .

Another Easter Regatta done, just love the 30 miler and round the island races, makes it like no other regatta and you get to pass lots of Trailer Sailers, Keelboats, dinghies and Large Multis while you do it, showing off the Mossie grin.

Well done on another good Easter Regatta Gary, sorry for not bringing you some line honours competition this year! However I can assure you that as we drank our cold beer and ate chicken sandwiches on Lake King we didn't miss the beach cat one bit wink
