That's why we need to work out how to sail together! A Mosquito/Cobra/Taipan regatta would be great! Each class offers something different.

Together strong?

cut it down a tad.... wink

When it was posted up I was like, ummm...errr, bit early in the season guys crazy

personally I may have considered going except for one main reason, and its not offered up as an excuse but rather a suggestion for future wink

So far this season I've had 8 races, that's 4 sailing days with 2 races on each day, of those 4 days three have been with my club and against other mozzies whilst one day was only against fireballs ( everyone else pulled out due to the 3metre swell and 20knot wind)... for me and I'd suggest others that's a little short on time to get going again after the winter break.... let alone getting the boat sorted afer all the off season mods,.... & yeah I'm still sorting her out !!!

Perhaps if the state event was held later on in the season when we have all got our act together and feel we have the mo-jo happening you may well get more attendies....

just sayin

cool

Oooo ... rum grin

"Cut it down a tad"

Why? I was merely commenting on the fact that we usually get 10-15 boats. Not a very good ad for the class to only get 5, with only 4 for the spin states. There have been many times in the last decade where Mozzies were 20% of the fleet.. And kicking butt in the overall results I might add!

This regatta is always in November, traditional time slot. But I tell you what. If you get the Nationals moved from its traditional slot to a date that doesn't clash with my sons Rep Cricket commitments, I'll get the Cat champs moved to suit your maintenance program smile. ( and yes, I could be taking the piss.... Just a little bit. )

Cheers and happy sailing grin

Thanks Gordon, I'm thinking of changing the boats name to "the Steve Bradbury"

Numbers are down across a few classes at the moment...but the Mozzie stood out a bit at McCrae as being lower then usual.

Nothing to do with the time of year I wouldn't have thought as history shows...If you want to or intend to go these events then the effort would made, I dont make any excuses I would have liked to go to sail, but couldn't. I was there for an hour or so for a look.

We've had 2 regattas as well that numbers have been down across a few classes.

Events can't be timed on a persons schedule or personal life, its just the way it goes. Society has never been as busy as we are today or will be tomorrow. Which is a shame.

A slightly odd day at Rye on Sunday with 5 sloops and one cat rigged mossie sailing. Of the 6 mossies, 4 were carrying spinnakers. smile The day started with a sail from Rye to Sorrento with Junior activities at Sorrento. I took the opportunity to put the jib on and take Aaron (one of the juniors) for the trip. When the wind allowed, I got Aaron to practice trapezing and by the end of the day he was steering from the wire. On the trip back we took a detour down wind and popped the kite for an enjoyable run. It was a good turn up for a non racing day and good to see a few juniors getting a sail on mosquitos.

Just to add to Pete's note about the Rye Mossies, we now have 11 on the register and regularly 6 sailing. Not bad for only one 4 years ago.

Great year for Mossies at Rye!!!!

Bring on the Nats.....the Griswalds are packing the car and making the trip hehehe!!

It's a shame some of you couldn't make the trip 10 minutes up the road for an official VMCA event frown ... Which I guess was the point of my original post ......

Apologies for not getting there Simon but I too had a family event which was not movable and was more like 4 hours away instead of 10 minutes.
