Just Kidding! Man... Talk about coming in DEAD last!!!!! We couldn't find the second maker. We went back and forth about 3 times!

It's a good thing I can say it was my first race, otherwise it would be embarrasing!

Not a problem to be last -- beats sitting on the beach.., and we have all been there

Thanks Rick,

We did have a blast anyway. I had never been sailing so far out into Biscayne bay. It was a real treat. Next time I'll definetly bring less crew. It was like dragging an anchor. And also a small GPS will be helpful.

I'll be there for the next one!

Also remember the boats we were up against. Nothing but rockets!!!

It was only me and another H16 and I finished 25 mins after the first H16.

For the longest time I thought I was last! till we saw your sail comming in. When I was out in the course, we were looking for you, but didnt see you. We asumed you dropped out.

You still could win on portsmouth!
I got my butt handed to me as well.... Sorry I didn't wait around for you guys at the beach, I was in a hurry to get home after being away for 4 days.
Next time we'll hang out.
Go ahead and put the Conch Cup and Tradewinds on your schedule. There will also be several more CABB events stuffed in between.

Robi,

Did you have the white sail with the two blue stripes? That, and the multicolored H16 sails were the only ones I kept seeing (in the distant horizon).

Arbo,

we crossed when I was on my way to the second marker and you were on your way back to Hobie beach. I tried to gesture "Wherethafakisthesecondmarker" but realized there is no known gesture for that

does anyone know what place everyone came in, and times?

John called me last night to straighten out my PN number, soooo, that means he will send out the results via e-mail shortly. I think Bret on the A-Cat took first, Then all the spin boats.
With the results he will usually announce the next race, stay tuned.

I believe so yes.

The A-Cat is a uni rig, no spinnaker. It is a very light weight (around 165 all up) with considerable sail area in the mainsail.

Rick,

Not even a Jib?? How can this catamaran beat 20footers with spinnakers??

They are certainly not underpowered. For the weight of the boat and the amount of sail area, they are quick. Downwind they are not as fast as spin boats, but usually do the Wildthing and stay close, but boy do they ever go upwind.
Most unis will outpoint sloops upwind and if they have enough power and are light enough, they will usually beat them.
