Yep, post another victory for the F17! 
It was very windy on Saturday with winds starting out at 10-15 and building all day ending with 18-22. The short chop coupled with the wind gusts coming in from different angles made for some very physical sailing. The puffs were so isolated they felt like shots to 30! Downwind with the kite up was very unpleasant. During race 4, I sailed the downwind leg to the finish with the kite still in the sock. But by this time, there were only 2 boats on the course! Saturday's results are:
1st = F17 (yours truly)
2nd = Nacra 6.0 Express (Craig/Debra)
3rd = Nacra 20 (Mark/Cindy)
Sunday dawned with the winds already at race 4 conditions and building. At the YC, we saw winds sustained at 20 and a gusts up to 28! Consensus on the beach was to race them to the trailers so we informed the RC of our fleet decision and put the boats away. We all observed the fleets that did go out getting raked by the gusts and at one time there were 5 of the larger monoslugs over at once. We made a wise decision.
So the results from Saturday stood. This was the first year EVER that multihulls were invited to this regatta. The hard work that Bert Rice has been putting into reviving multihull sailing around the Gulf coast is paying off. Thanks to those that made the trip and we will put this on the calender for next year!
