Help with the Hook?? - 07/04/09 02:14 PM
Coulda called this thread the HALYARD BLUES.
Long before I bought an ACAT I saw guys turning them over when the Masthook didn't catch the Main.
I'm frustrated. I have tried Rotating left, Rotating Right, all to no avail.
It's complicated by the fact that when you rotate the mast at the last minute to move the masthook away from the ring, the boltrope binds in the track so you can't push it up that last 3 inches up the slot anymore.
My hook was taped into placed to help it stand vertical, that seemed right but if you pushed the hook back on your 1st attempt, there was nothing to push it forward again without dropping the main and resetting the hook position manually and trying again.
I added a foam stabilizer that fits behind the ring, slotted down on sail to keep the ring pushed forward, it now keeps it from pushing backwards, but now it just pushes the ring to the side. Still fiddling with this, It is closer than it was.
I'm no engineer but there has GOT TO BE A BETTER DESIGN.
(Where the heck is Jake when I need him???)
Has anybody found a solution for this? It's hard and embarassing to keep turning the boat over to get the day started . . . .
