Loch Ness Monster - 02/14/07 03:57 PM

To awl you uk F16's hope you bin watchin the Nessie thread in Y N Y Forum hopefully , if the second edition goes ahead it will be on the August bank holiday for you guys just to add ice to the cake .

Yes its a long way to travel, but if anything like the last one it will be the most monster awesome race of the year , one not to be missed , over half the fleet last time were deepest south travellers a good few from the south coast , an all itching to come back.

A classes too threatening to come up so an excellent platform to restage the A class /f16 rivallry with a 20 mile + each way (as the grouse flys) windward leeward .

Fingers crossed

You haven't mentioned the £500 prize money, or is that your drinking kitty?

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 02/16/07 01:18 PM

aha, thats because the event is not confirmed yet , but not a badgers nadger off I hear , and then the full monster event will be announced , I know you would enjoy it MP the last one was gobsmackingly awesomely farking tremendous , I could hardly walk after the last one with all the adrennalin still pumping ,and I hear organiser are planning a right royal P*ss up too ,

There's also the added bonus that you might see nessie itself earning you lifetime fame and tall tales to tell your grandchildren.

Am I still allowed to play at mumbles with my inflated f16 what is 18 ??, I know wouldn't be allowed to win prizes , but that has never been a prob i have to worry about .

Harking back to Nessie - forgot - the furthest traveller was an A class Flyer - from Spain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you deserve redress for the time you took to slow up and grab a photo of the old girl? Seems fair...

There's always a welcome for you here at Mumbles (even after last weekend) You can bring the "Rock Star" with you as well. I would personally be extremely pissed if anybody even thought of protesting you. I guess the AA would be taking you home again.

Automobile Association or Alcoholics Anonymous?

Drove down Loch Nessside this afternoon - it's still a bloody long way even in the car. Probably just as well we retired after a mile last time.......

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 02/19/07 02:03 PM

Credit where credit s due , delivery to Grafhan AA , return by Brittania , who also provided a pimpmobile complete with a hyperspace button for "the rockstar" to push when over taking on corners in torrential rain .

Haven't availed wurselves of tother AA yet , lifes too short and more fun "off the wagon"

Look forward to seeing George and his buds from PE at HSC cat regatta this year , not to mention nessie , you can do better than 1 mile ! or was that due to shredding sobstandard sails ??

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 02/19/07 06:50 PM

No, my sobstandard sail is still in one piece (thanks to my sailmaker who gave it a refurb last winter!). My temporary crew for the weekend bailed out when she saw what the weather looked like that morning and volunteered her boyfriend as a replacement. Although he was heavier (still not heavy enough though) he hadn't sailed anything in a year and hadn't sailed anything faster than a Dart 18 at all. So when we capsized he was quite keen to head back for a cuppa - and I wasn't inclined to argue. Not much fun trying to get the boat ashore in the correct number of pieces on that lee shore on our ownsomes though.

Don't think I'll make HSC - expecting to concentrate on the J/80 this year (I know it's only got one hull, they needed an A-sail trimmer though!) and we'll be doing East Coast "Week" which is the Fri - Mon over the HSC weekend. Probably miss the return trip to Nessie's lair too - Edinburgh Regatta that weekend I think. Might try and get the J boat skipper to crew for me on the other long distance race in sunny Scotland though - the Four Inches Race from PEYC on 8/9 September. See how he likes getting soaking wet whilst being shouted at from the back of the boat....

THE MONSTER RACE IS ON
Just come of call with Nessie andd sponsor has been secured

£500 scottish squids for winner , lots of other prizes , but who cares its the MOSt awesome race on the planet that can be done in a day .

Beautiful Loch Ness with its REAL Monster that has been known to steal full size highland cattle from the surrounding mountains and glens and reputation for cracking winds makes this one not to miss !!!

The ULTIMATE setting to settle speed scores Aclass versus F16, tornado, f18, f20 whatever ,shorter course (if needed- not if last time was to go by !) ) for dart 18 etc a total mind numbing experience if last was anything to go by . Nessie will be spilling more beans soon .

ps will confirm - my mind is still numb !

August 25/26th

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 03/28/07 02:06 PM

Entries are piling in now.

We will be limiting entries to 50 boats, so the sooner you register interest, the better!

We have a confirmed entry from Spain already.

you know you want to!

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 04/04/07 03:45 PM

What F-28 would that be? Tri or cat, and what vintage (before or after the weight limit changes)?

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 04/04/07 06:24 PM

It's the Ideal Stelrad/Ross Hobson F28 cat

Re: Loch Ness Monster - 04/04/07 08:15 PM

Aha, you dont know where I can find some more information about it? Do Ross have a new webpage for his post-Mollymawk sailing?
I like those old F-28s and think it is a pity the class caved in.

Try http://www.rosshobson.com/ although it isn't terribly up to date.

That nice Nessie has now confirmed what she told me on the phone earlier this week - the F28 is no longer the largest boat intending to do the race.....
