Report GC 2008 - 08/09/08 02:59 PM

I'll start up a new post for a quick update on our situation here. Unfortunately situation is bad. We have too much wind and very shifty wind so racing is canceled for today. All we can do now is wait for our roof top barbecue tonight. Only downside to that is that it's raining big time at the moment. We have some more reports and pictures up on our blog (see my signature).

Later!

Chris Sprout went out for 20 mins or so; looked very very shifty - lots of tea-bagging and one or two accidential gybes. Did not look Fun. The Spi went up for about 60 seconds.

Hi Kathleen, sorry about the bad weather. I had to add the "www" to your link to get to your blog. Thanks for the updates. I expect you will be taking pictures of the drunken foolishness that usually results on a bad weather day, right?

Timbo,
I'm still waiting to see photos of drunken foolishness.
Kathleen,
Did you manage to catch anyone?

What happens if any under legal "alcohol consumption" age participates. Milk at the bar and business as usual?

Drunken foolishness? Did not happen really. We hardly spent time in a bar. And if we were, we were innocently looking out of the window.

Kathleen,
Now why do I find that hard to believe?

Ok then, if you insist.

From left to right, top to bottom.

Gill, Paul, Simon, Hans, John, Chris and Rosaline. See al the Cokes?!
Ann and Paul, looking suspicious, would all those cokes have anything to do with that?
Geert and Allyson, nicely posing for the camera.
And we end with Mark hiding his Pint, Joanna and Allyson.

Are you saying there -may have been- alcohol involved?

Re: Report GC 2008 - 08/20/08 02:58 PM

There might possibly maybe have been some bit of that substance involved. But I can't remember actually. And I didn't participate.

And what do I have to do to loose my status of Stranger here?

Re: Report GC 2008 - 08/20/08 03:52 PM

It's based on total number of posts, you only show 23, so get busy! Besides, we love your stuff, so the more the better.

Were there no bruises this time? We need to see the pictures of that! Or has Gilo stopped beating his crew?

There's a good skipper, got to keep'm in line you know. Hey, Wouter said he's now crewing too, any scars to prove it Wouter?

Well, in our case the skipper weights 70 kg and the crew darn close to 90 kg and a head taller, I think that has saved my behind a few times !

But I got enough mental scares however. of the kind "Is that spi up yet ?" while I have bleeding hands from that greased up gitar string he refers to as spi halyard on his boat !

Re: Report GC 2008 - 08/21/08 10:26 AM

so if I start posting every bruise I ever had while sailing, I should get rid of the stranger sign?

Re: Report GC 2008 - 08/21/08 10:40 AM

Based on what we now know of the way Gill treats you, you'll lose the stranger sign in one series of posts!!!

Shame on you Gill! Don't you know that a good crew is worth his/her weight on the boat?

Oooeii ! A very dangerous thing to say with regard to a woman !

Either she is nicely tight and trim and not worth much on the boat or she is overwhelmingly valuable and ... ... well I think you get my drift !

Yes, we need to see each and every bruise, each in a separate post, that should eliminate the "stranger" thing, and you won't be a stranger to us either! And if you could get one picture of just your foot, up Gilo's butt, that would be good too!

Respect.....to Gill & Kathleen.
I never mentioned during the 2008 Global Challenge Prize Giving that they were 3rd for the second consecutive year and it should have been said that they appertain to the F16 Class (young, good looking & fast) like myself !!

Kathleen and Gill are great sailors and a wonderful, fun couple. We had a great time hanging out with them and Gill's parents. See you both again soon!
Mark -you sail quite fast when you stay up right.
Was good to finally meet you and all the others at the Challenge. The MYC did an outstanding job hosting the event and making us feel at home. Miss you all already.

Joanna, could you please post that Y+Y article link for the rest of the F16's here? Thanks, and great job yourself with Geert! You guys had several bullets and nearly won. Good job to all the other lady crews as well. Two in the top 3, well done!
