Spring fever has a pretty healthy fleet. Other than nationals it will be more than likely the largest gathering of F16's this year.

At Gulfport this weekend, are we going to set up at the town beach or at the club? I'll be rolling in early Saturday....I hope, so where should I go?

Thanks.

I think the beach will be open noon Friday, at least that's where I'm planning on rigging.

Thanks, see you Saturday am. You need crew? I may have a spare.

Not this time, it's supposed to be very light.

OK, I will probably have one of them sit on the committee boat and swap off between races, unless there's someone else in need of a light but inexperienced crew.

So,

What's the damage?

Who showed up?

Any good stories?

Nothing new from me, still dfl.

Good party, light winds but not a drifter, warm, sunny.

Matt & Riley pretty much stole the show. She is really getting good.

What about results?

Re: Gulfport F16/Acat, April 9-10... - 04/11/11 01:53 PM

You may need to look on the Gulfport YC site for all the official results. http://gulfportyachtclub.com/

They are not posted as of right now, but I'm sure they will get around to it eventually.

I learned one thing, the F16 is much faster upwind in light air with a JIB, regardless of what your crew weighs!

Re: Gulfport F16/Acat, April 9-10... - 04/11/11 01:54 PM

I don't remember.

I think it was:

1) Matt & Riley
2) Eric Witte/Gary(?) Chu
3) Marks/Herrenden

I'm sorry guys, I'm terrible with names!

Another great GYC event.
Good party and a great weekend to be outside.
Saturday started light but was steady (especially for Gulfport) and built to a nice double trap by the last 2 races. Sunday was a bit more sketchy wind wise as they sent us out before the sea breeze took over.

8 - F16 and about the same number of F18 all on the same start. A flock of A's on the other start.

I have to put a plug in for Riley who sailed very well this weekend and is really making headway in her ability, plus she is fun to be on the boat with.

One of the last races on Saturday she managed to get ahead of JC on the last upwind. The grin on her face was unbelievable as we headed down wind flying a hull and JC/Dalton chased only about 5 feet behind us.
