F16 sailors in BC? - 04/10/05 06:45 AM

Hi
Im new here and have just arranged to purchase a set of Blade F16 plans.
I expect to be in the water about Feb-March next year as we are going to Canada for 2 months from November which will probably be just before the boat is completed.
Anyway, I was wondering if there are any F16 sailors in BC that I might look up while I am there.

BC = British Colombia ?

If so then I don't have any F16 members listed up there. Rumour has it that An F16 is up in Oregan state but I have not been able to confirm that and I guess Oregan is more then a little out of the way of BC.

We don't have any F16's in Canada as a whole; it seems to me that the canadian cat scene is pretty small and concentrated near the great lakes.

Sorry.

There are (or at least used to be) a lot of cats in western Canada. We have put on three seminars out there. On lakes in the Edmonton, Alberta area there are a lot of 18-squares and Sea Sprays and Unicorns. A Canadian Tornado Nationals was held once at Lake Wabamun near Edmonton, so there must be (or have been) Tornadoes in western Canada.

I know there are Hobies at Kelowna, British Columbia. And the Jericho Sailing Center at Vancouver had the biggest drysail area of catamarans I have ever seen anywhere. It was like a museum of every cat design ever built. Great place for regattas.

But at that time (about 13 years ago) most of the sailors seemed to just race locally on their own ponds, which is why we probably don't hear much about them -- and also why older classes are able to survive there. And, conversely, why there also aren't many of the newer classes there.
