Datchet - 08/17/06 11:25 PM

F16's TT at Datchet in September. Is it a goer? I hope it is as I can't wait to race and socialize again.

What's happening ? I'm desperate to jump in the van and do a couple of days racing with other 16's. Please put me out of my misery and confirm if Datchet are hosting an event this September. It just so happens that the Welsh Yachting Association aren't allowing Cats to enter the Welsh Sailing Games for the first time this September. Probably because they keep winning and the skippers of the £100,000+ yachts get pretty pi$$ed about it. It just proves that money talks and an Association which is supposed to promote sailing to all people can still discriminate.

I'll be in London from 9/8 to 9/12--any events going on; I'd love to check out the latest Stealths.

If you're in London, that's 8/9 to 12/9!

Yes and don't step off the curb without looking BOTH ways! They like to come at you from the other direction over there! And if you are in Brighton, don't drop your wallet or you will have to kick it to Hove.

Just back off holiday. Thought we'd have a date for this by now

Has NOONE heard anything?

Eric, on 9/9 (that works both sides of the pond! ) the Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club is hosting its annual Round the Island 50 mile distance race. There might be 3-4 Stealths taking part. Failing that, Datchet has a fleet of 11? Stealths (oh yes, and a Blade) and racing every weekend. I don't know how many of them sail each day though.

Round Robin Email received from John Pierce:

"We have a date for the Datchet round of the F16 TT circus. it is September 23rd and 24th, please come if you can make it, last year was a blinding event, there is enough water."

Unfortunately, people, I can't make that date

My youngest, Robert, is competing for selection to the RYA Zone Squad on that weekend and I'm doing the 'Topper Dad' bit....

Assuming the weather's OK, I'm expecting to be there on Saturday and then do the club races on Sunday. I can't speak for the Stealth sailors, but you're very welcome to come for a sail on the Blade.

Datchet's pretty easy to get to, either by car, or I can pick you up from one of the local train stations. I'll PM you my mobile number.

Re: Datchet - 09/07/06 05:36 PM

"Sounds ok : Stealth #534 (Bahrt Luis') & #536 (ours, 1/2 carbon version, built Nov 2004) were officially weighed at Texel 2005 on a very impressive set of 3 load cells with digital read-out. 534 was 116kg & 536 was 125kg. My guess would be that good ones will weigh in the region of 116kg, others will just be more".
Is there any chance that a scales could be set up at Datchet during the Open as I am extremely curious about the differing wieghts in this respect.

Re: Datchet - 09/14/06 05:41 PM

I have just received an email from the A's and there should be about ten of them attending. As some of you know I'm usually up for a few pints after a good days racing and both the A's and myself were wondering if you can camp near to the Club House or even spend the night there. It would be a great shame if we all went our seperate ways on Saturday night. So if a Datchet sailor could let us know we would be very grateful.

As another drinker with a sailing problem, that sounds good to me...

Mark you are welcome to stay at the barn but I think the ten may be a little too many + I'm 20 minute from Datchet, mind you Marlow has very good drinking establishments, probably better than Datchet.
