Madcatter for Waves

Madcatter for Waves - 03/31/10 03:14 PM

We already have quite a few folks that say they can make the Madcatter May 21-13 at Lake Oneida in Upstate NY near Syracuse. Never been to it, but have heard nothing but rave revues over the years.
Myself, and several from PIB are working on trying to make it. Hopefully, Mimi Appel and her gang of Waves will reciprocate and attend the North Americans at Put-in-Bay in August.

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/05/10 10:14 AM

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick check in, to say we are on track for Madcatter 34! The weather seems much milder overall this year, a GREAT sign!

Our Fleet is VERY excited to have a couple of Waves coming, it was all the buzz at the last meeting! I hope we can get more than 3!

Come on out to Syracuse!!!

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/05/10 02:05 PM

I just registered today, and hope to get a few of the PIB guys to come as well. Couple said that having the Midwest Champs the previous week and then the Madcatter were too much traveling in too short of time.
Others are trying. Skip Kaub from Indy is making an attempt to come, depending some other scheduling problem.

Going to do my best to be there. Most likely just Sat. and Sun. Looking forward to it. I have seen it before but could someone post the registration again.

Thanks

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/06/10 04:26 PM

Thanks Jack. I will be traveling in the VW again Rick so I think I am fine. Knowing this, I will tell everyone here and might be able to get somemone to go who might need housing.
Let me know if you need anything from the "Bay"

Patrick, am I going to see you at Indy next week?
Posted By: BlackCat Racing

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/06/10 09:46 PM

Yes I will be at Indy. Skip puts on a great regatta at a very tactical venue. Lots of fun to start out the summer season.

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/07/10 08:45 PM

I will be coming directly to the Bay from the end of the Tybee on Saturday (the reason I keep missing Indy). Have to unload the RV and the trailer. I have my Wave on top of the Taipan 4.9, so have to unload both and load the Wave back up for Madcatter.
Great trek every spring and fall.
See you in a week or so,
Rick

Howdy

Patrick and Rick, GREAT to hear that you are coming to Madcatter. Jack, thank you for posting the web site address for Patrick. If you guys have any questions, you can email me directly mimiappel@aol.com.

The weather here this weekend was nasty, that is an EXCELLENT sign for Madcatter! If past history is any indication, we might end up with a decent weekend.

Looks like we have 5 boats!!!!! HOLY COW!!! I'm psyched!!!

I hope you guys like rum laugh

Hey Everyone,

RE: Madcatter

I hope all the Wave Women out there know that they are welcome, too!

I know Kathy Kulkowski can't make it (I hope to go to Sandy Hook in June 19-20) but was hoping some of the rest of the gang could come.

Mary, Barb, Leah (sp?) Sharon...Did I leave anyone out? The ladies can drink rum just as well as the guys!

Hi Mimi,
I was planning on bringing the RV, but it appears it will stay in Key Largo again. Got any suggestions on a place to crash?

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/15/10 11:09 AM

Hey Rick,

That could be tough at this late stage in the game. I'll ask around today at MadHATTER-our practice race/party.

You'd be weclome at our house but it's an hour away, our mohome is already full of teenagers. The Puerto Ricans either rent a mohone from Great Outdoors (i'll get info if you want) or stay at the host hotel.

This info from the NOR....Days Inn 5552 Bartell Rd 315-676-3222
We have reserved 10 "single" rooms at the Days Inn. Rate is $79 a night; room tax is 13%. nonsmoking. User Booking Group Name "Fleet 204"
or list of others.

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/15/10 11:40 AM

Important.....Please pass the word so there are no surprises.
The registration committee reminded me this week that everyone has to be HCA members to race Madcatter. You can register on-line at https://www.hcanamembers.com/ to save time in the registration line. I understand there is a "Web member" for $20.00. If this is a hardship or deterrent for any Wave racer please email me at mimiappel@aol.com and we will work something out. "It's ALL GOOD"

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/15/10 07:11 PM

After 3.5 day and $4100 the transmission is once again operable, albeit missing the Tybee coverage -- totally AWOL. But, maybe I can limp into NY with it.
The hotel sounds reasonable, however

Good to hear your are up and running again. I know mohomes are money pits, but I love them just the same!

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/19/10 03:33 PM

Hey Rick. I hope to get to Syracuse tomorrow afternoon. Want to do the long distance race if they will let me. When do you and Patrick plan to arrive?

Anyone else from Ohio?

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/19/10 04:20 PM

Jack I hope to be there Friday Evening. Looking to take Friday afternoon off and start driving around 1:00 pm. Looks like it is about a 5 hour drive so it should take a Diesel VW van about 6 1/2. Wish I could do the long distance though.
I am not a HCA member. Can I buy just a trial for the regatta. Not sure if becoming a full time member will benefit me???

Hey Patrick...

<<I am not a HCA member. Can I buy just a trial for the regatta. Not sure if becoming a full time member will benefit me???>>

20 bucks for web membership. It's unavoidable to race Madcatter. If it is a hardship, I (personally) will cover you.

That is a very kind offer, but I can cover it. Just did not know what a web membership consisted of. Will find out soon. ETA has been moved to Sat. morning. Slammed at work. Safe drives everyone.

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/25/10 04:34 PM

Mimi,

And all involved in getting the Waves to the Madcatter. I would personally like to thank you for all your hard work and for the invitation. I had a great time and would come again. The weather was nice and off water festivities were wonderful. Looking forward to seeing you this August and hope I can be as good a host to you, as you were a hostess to me.

Keep your tramp tight Sister.

THANKS AGAIN for everything.

Re: Madcatter for Waves - 05/28/10 11:44 AM

Hi Patrick, et all,

Sorry I haven't had time to check in on CatSailor. I've been living on
http://2010nationals.collegesailing.org/ and
http://regatta.mit.edu/s10/icsa-women-nationals/
Our daughter Marie walked on to the Harvard Womens sailing team last year and they are racing the Nationals in Wisconson. They are in 5th as of this morning. Cinderella story, I'm so proud I could burst!

Longer letter later.
Mimi
