Hi Greg, Check the frame/bulkhead under the rear beam is 'tight'. Access through the deck inspection hole and push the frame all around it where it bonds to the hull and deck. It may not be seen to be loose but listen for the creaking sound your refer to. We had one in SA with a loose main beam frame. And yes it creaked during sailing and when pushed. The movement between hull and frame edge could also be felt as well as heard. Repair in this case required cutting the deck forward of the beam to rejoin frame to the hull side. If this is your problem, hopefully access for repair can be made through the rear deck's inspection port. FYI, my creaking sound was the side stay tangs (when luffed up and no sailing pressures). I replaced the round head screws with countersunk head. Now no movement and subsequent creaking. Had the same problem with the transom rudder fittings 1765 so new what to do with the tangs. Oh, also set them in araldite. Good luck with your search!

Tortured ply is clearly beautiful.
