The bowel flush for "detoxifying" is questionable. A MUCH more importatnt reason to do this is to prepare for a colonoscopy. This is a SERIOUS health maintainence issue. Colon/rectal cancer is more real than you know and treatable if found early. Ask your doctor if she hasn't asked you already !

David:

Yes I have had the scope before. Flush may or may not detox you "BUT" I know one thing, I have the energy on a 25 and I ma no longer lethargic and have that old lack of energy feeling. I can rub circles around my grand kids.

I have tired to call you numerous times. Do you have a new cell?

I lost 30 pounds this past year on the NutriSystem Diet. Seems like a pretty healthy way to eat. Eating out makes it a bit tough.

The 2007 season must officially be over.
We have 26 replies on the subject of colon cleansing that has just evolved into a question of how sexy Rick White is now.

And the fact that you and I read through the whole thing means that ours is definitely over

Last year I was out until Nov 18th. I figured not too bad for sailing in on winnebago in WI... pretty much had the place to myself. This year, last sail was Sept 26th... rotator cuff surgery the next morning (don't worry, I didn't wreck it sailing on the 26th ). So, now in physical therapy lifting weights hoping it's back up to snuff in time for some skiing on Christmas

I had ran into a friend of mine recently that I haven't seen in a while. He had went from 280 to about 210 in little over a year. When asked how it was done his response was; no beer, and no food that came from or was a product of a four legged animal.

I have semi adopted this mantra and have been maintaining my regular workout schedule and I have lost about 10 pounds in the past month - but seeing the holidays are coming, and I have a weakness for cheeseburgers, chocolate chip cookies, burritos, beer, wine, chilly, cheesecake etc.... don't think this will last long.

Kidding aside, my friend look great and told me he hasn't felt this great in years. And to tell dropping ten pounds myself I notice a difference in my energy level.

Good Luck Doug

I saw a Ripley's Believe it or not" that had an actual photo of a gentleman from India who had a "slight" bowel obstruction- it weighed at least 130 pounds. WOW!

Ah probably true, but putting the boat away for a few months makes me appreciate it that much more in March when I get it out of storage.

Besides, the commute from SC or FL to snow country for the weekend ski trips would get a bit pricey. As much as I love sailing, I don't think I could live without some good skiing either.

I heard John Wayne had about 30lbs of waste in him when he died.

I hate to add to this thread, but I can't let the Duke be maligned like that. That's just one of those email urban legends started by Peta, or those folks selling "colon cleaners". See Snopes at

Gang:

Who know which one it was that did it, but I lost 35 lbs so far and went from a 43" waist to a 36" waist in three months. One of them did. PLUS I have a LOT more energy.
