I sail an SC17 with a boomless main. Some time ago, on the old forum, there was a discussion regarding the boomless main and its disadvantage of effectively dumping wind when necessary in a big gust. I think Bill Roberts was involved with the discussion. My question -- should I consider using a stiffer batten in the foot of the sail? I am currently using the original tubular, tapered batten that came with the original main. Would another option be more effective. I like the convenience of no boom, but I am open to other options.
