Hi. I sail on the south coast of the UK. I have just got an Inter 17(with jib / no chute). Love her, but went over today (in the harbour!) & couldn't right her alone. I weigh about 165lbs / 73kilo's. So, do I need to practice more or should I get a righting device? If your interested, she's carbon hull & foils, but with Ali mast. Bought her from guy who brought her to UK from Singapore (Australia built). Can beat pants off Spitfire upwind -I'm loathed to take on crew as it's so much faster solo!

A righting bag would fit nicely. I have one in the tramp pouch just in case I forget to properly hook on to the trapeze!!

We love our cats so much. Love their butts.

Here's hoping that you find a way to get her up!

Righting bags take a lot of effort and time to deploy and of course are absolutely useless if she goes turtle!

Work on your righting technique, but consider a righting pole, esp if you are solo much of the time. Check the mast for leaks and *ALWAYS* uncleat the main, stand on the hulls, wait for the hulls to drift leeward of the top of the mast, then start your righting. Be patient...it takes awhile for the boat to respond!. (and the wind really helps in the procedure!) Practice!

I am 184 and have solo righted an F18 that is over 400lbs, so I think it is do-able if you are in shape!.

Stand on the daggerboard while righting! (it'll come right up!) I did it at 175lbs quite a few times.............

But I did have the carbon mast. I would still give it a shot though on the daggerboard. it will bend but not break.
