U.S. YOUTH MULTIHULL CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

Portsmouth, R.I. (May 9, 2003) – The registration deadline for US SAILING’s
2003 U.S. Youth Multihull Championship for the Hoyt-Jolley Cup is around the
corner. Youth teams (girls, boys and mixed) who are less than 19 years old
in this calendar year have until June 30 to apply. The event will be held
July 10-13 and hosted by the Fort Walton Yacht Club in Florida.

The documents package and entry form for the U.S. Youth Multihull
Championship are available on US SAILING’s website at
http://www.ussailing.org/multihull/youth.htm US SAILING membership is
required of skipper and crew. The maximum number of teams who can
participate is set at 20.

Arrival and registration for participants are scheduled for Thursday, July
10, with a racing clinic and practice races on July 11 followed by racing on
July 12-13. Housing, meals and a racing clinic will be provided, as well as
ten new Hobie 16s with main, jib and two trapezes supplied by Hobie Cat
Company. Races will be held on a round robin basis.

The winning team will qualify for the ISAF Youth World Championship to be
held in Poland in 2004. The multihull class will be raced in Hobie 16s.
