OKay here it is the Beta version of the rules !

http://www.geocities.com/f16htclass/F16HP_class_rules_finalized.html

I'm sure that it contains quite a few misspellings and vague wordings so could you all check it out and help me getting it just right.

If tried to satisfy as much of the earlier objections as I could.

Stewart : PBA are not included in the boxrule anymore but in the rules for running an F16HP event. Okay ?

Kirt : All grandfathered boats are out of the official F16HP fleet and will be put into the Open F16HP fleet on a temporary basis. Now we can be more flexible and forgiving when grnadfathering in designs without opening ourselfs up for a inside attack.

Everybody : No weights are used in the weight equalization system just a few groups with different but standardized jib and genaker sizes. Cheapest solution with respect to fairness.

John : Texel is the default system and a growth path to higher performance is incorporated.

And so on and on.

You see guys all those polls were not for nothing and I'm very glad that the bulk of working through this heap of information has been done.

Now I'm going to read Frank Bethwaites book I received over the mail just now.

See you in 24 hours when we finalized to rules.

Wouter

Wouter

I am more than happy with all the rules, the only one I would query is rigging and equipment, do we really need this rule, I think there is a possibility for increased performance at no extra cost and do not see any benifit in putting the rule in, (the A cats don't have it)

Other than that I think the formula is superb and will be very succesfull

John P

John,

Is it the non-adjustment rule of the standing rigging except the diamondwires your talking about ?

What will be your counter proposal ?

BTW, did you read Macca 's comment on cats and 18 foot skiffs. I certainly want to see it with my own eyes but wouldn't it be just perfect if F16 HP can beat 18 foot skiffs too.

This can well mean that F16 HP is very near to the fastest sailing boat classes in the world (excluding speedrecord specialized one-offs) With only the New Tornado, M20, iF20 and CFR as direct competitors. And the numbers of these craft are near to those of the F16 HP. Not bead hehh for a 16 !

Yes, I also think that we have something special here.

Anyways, Please elaborate and see if the rules can be changed.

Wouter

wOUTER

The rule beginning 'it is not permitted to adjust : the rake of the mast, the tension of the standing rigging, the angle or length of the spreaders other than etc. etc.

I think we should just delete this rule as it is restrictive for no real benefit.

john
