When I bought my cat, a tool box full of parts was included$$$. Yesterday while rummaging for rudder spacers, I noticed several of a particullar item. An inch and half ring connected by three inch rod to another inch and half ring. I have never used such an item in rigging my cat. I am probably missing out on something. Anyone out there got advice?
Thanks,
Greg H14,H16

Greg,
No, I do not think you are rigging the cat wrong. There is no use for this three inch long item. The only thing I could imagine it being is when you are stepping the mast, it might be a extension for the bridle so you lever it down when you get off the trampoline. I thought it could have been extra rudder pins, but they are much much longer. Well, happy sailing.

Danny

Your strange rings sound alot like trapeze dog bones to me. These rings attach with a bow shackle to the bottom loop of a trapeze wire and provide an extention for clipping your harness buckle to.

there is a pin used to keep the mast attached to the mast step when raising and lowering the mast, its used with a ss bracket at the mast base that is removable. does your mystery rod fit the mast base bracket?

Thanks for the responses.
This object is not the pin for the mast stepper. Couldn't be since it looks like a dog bone as mentioned by a prior responder. Maybe a picture---> O---O
The rings attached at the end of the rod remind me of rock climbing rings, the rod is welded to the rings. It looks like it might support 500 lbs.
So far, I guess that a trap extender is the answer.
Greg
H14,H16

Yes. Looks just like it. For the other readers. It is a Dog bone (original trapeze equipment for H16).
Thanks everyone for input.
Greg
H14,H16

Yes I agree it sounds like the trapeze dog bones. I've bought a few old H16's to fix up and sell and your discription does sound like the old style trapeze dog bones.
