Hi all,
not sure that the weather was what Simon was looking forward to in the forecast, but I guess I can't complain
.
McCrae organised another good weekend of racing, not sure about the break up of the divisions though, Mossie with spinnaker was in with Hobie 16 & 17's. In the prevailing light to moderate winds I think results would have been closer with all spinnaker cats in one division (perhaps Tim can work it out, as we sailed same course different number of laps
).
It was a great turn out of nearly 70 cats, with more classes than has been seen for years. Winds where gusty both days, with Saturday 5-12 knots and Sunday 8-18 knots, with lots of shifts, most found it very hard to pick the right way to go.
But if you could find your way through the minefield, the Mossie with spinnaker excelled down wind, matching or bettering most other cats vmg downwind, on the windward and return course.
After getting second place overall a few times, I finally cracked a win for the overall YV Victorian Catamaran Championship
. But it was a pity the forecast stronger winds didn't eventuate, as the non spinnaker cats would have had a chance to enjoy themselves more
.
