Kayak. He also went for Alligator tooth neckless reward - paddling entire Everglades part on inside. There are some crazy difficult stretches, like the place called "Nightmare".

having glimpsed one tiny section of "the Nightmare" at low tide, I would vouch for the difficulty. At high tide, you're pushed right up into the mangroves (and whatever snakes decide to dangle down and grab you smile )

I had no idea raccoons could (or wanted to) swim until I saw one swimming between two mangrove islands in one wider section. I thought it was a dog

Paddling in the Everglades at night? He wasn't looking for a necklace, unless that's what they're giving for Darwin awards now...

I take it you've never camped at Fort Desota State Park? They're they're pretty harmless but I've never seen so many glowing raccoon eyeballs in the trees at night in my life...stick to the trail.

you are correct sir! I prefer to island camp where there are no rangers .

So far I know of 2 rattlesnakes that were "eliminated" from the big island we camp on, and i have sailed directly over a pretty big rattle snake... I'll take glowing eyeballs in the trees anyday over rattlers

I know they are there (ranger told me), but have yet to see the salt-water crocs that inhabit the zone between Chocoloski and Flamingo... right where you kayak through the Nightmare..

And they're ornery reptiles, too. Not like your (usually) reclusive alligators.

And those pythons that are in excess of 20'... good times.

I'll stick to sailing about a mile off those mangrove cuts, thank you...

Has anyone talked to Randy since he finished?

I would love to know what his max speed was on Scizzors, seems at times on Sunday he must have been going over 20kts.

You can look at he tracking page on the www.watertribe.com website. Hover over the tracks and it shows the average speed between the last track.

Thanks, I'll go check that out.

I saw at WP10 he was doing 17knts!

I was wondering what his maximum speed on any one short blast reach might have been, does the spot tracker show maximum speed as well as average?
