Hey Bob,
Was very curious about any planned F-14 races this year. Are getting calls on the Cheshire all pertaining to the F-14 class. Any chance of a Nationals?

Hey JP!

I am thinking about a nationals in 2005 sometime in early Sep in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. I have to get with the YC to firm up a date as well as race committee, etc. Maybe a 3 day event. This should give everyone a chance to up their rigs.

Bob

We would love to have the F14 Class attend the NAMSA Ntls/Tradewinds Midwinters in January over ML King Weekend. It would be a great venue for the 1st F14 Midwinter Nationals.

How many boats would you expect on the start line and how many states would be represented at this proposed 2005 F14 Nats? Would there be sufficient interest in holding State titles as a lead up?

I think North FL or maybe the Georiga coast would be the ideal place for this event, as it's pretty well centered in the US population of F14 sailors.

FL Keys are nice but very out-of-the-way for almost everyone. Granted, I'm probably closer to the Keys than I am to GA, but we need to do everything possible to ensure a good showing to this event.

Yes, but it is a great place to be in the middle of winter where there is ALWAYS wind and flat seas, and that is where the NAMSA Annual Nationals are held, as well as a number of Midwinter Nationals for many classes.
In January I don't think you want to have a regatta near the Georgia/FLorida border.., unless you are a Polar Bear.

And because we have such a big participation, it would be very, very good exposure for this newborn class.., if it is born yet.

And, of course, it will be sure to get great media coverage as this is where Mary and I live.
