Just a quick question :-)

Do most Inter 20 weigh around 390 #s ? All up ?
This is a good weight for a production catamaran.

Thanx Barry,
What is it they do to get the weight up to iF20 minimum ?
That's a 40 pound increase !
It's no wonder these boats are so fast on the water !

The only difference between EU I-20 and US I-20 is the 5 % more sailarea. Just maybe the EU carbon mast is heavier to, but I don't believe that I-20 mast blanks are heavier then IF20 minimum of 18 kg's 40 pounds.

Now to win 11,5 kg = 25 pounds on the mast alone seems like a bit to much to believe. A low estimate given to me by a well known A-cat builder gives 1,1 kg * 9,5 + 0,5 kg's = 11 kg's. Now this is a minimum and only 7 kg's lighter than iF20 minimum

I really don't believe that PC builders lighter boards or something to get the US weight down. Especially not when they have not redesigned I-17 board and just used I-18 boards for that. iF20 weight of 190 min is including all, maybe the given weight is ex. genaker equipment or something/

Just my personal opinion but very much based on facts.

There is a difference in boards and rudders between the different years of the I20 in the US. Originally the boards and rudders were built much heavier. I wonder if this could account for some of the difference.

Barry,
What equipment did you have on the boat when you weighed it at 388? Sails, mast, safety equip, ..... I would also like to hear what other folks thought that their boat weighs. I know I've pulled that boat around on the beach a lot and it feels like about the same weight as my H20 but that is just by feel.
