2) i have a pair of old epos, with a lot of scratch and dents, what happens if i put a layer of carbon fiber on each side and then polish all with epo making a very nice job?

#1 the holes are used to shackel the two jib sheet blocks in the middle to the jib. Depending which hole you are using you can modify the shape of the jib. Start with the hole in the middle ( I currentely use the middle hole and the one above - I shackle through two holes to shorten the distance between sail and crossbar when I sheet in tight)

#2 The old EPO's are made utilizing glass and epoxy as composit materials... I would not advice to lay up additional carbon fiber cloth. This might look cool if you have the equipment to get good quality surfaces, but it will not do anything for the performance of the part. The carbon fiber will act very different than the layers of glass. If you feel like the laminat of the EPO's is compramized - try to repair them in the traditional way utilizing glass cloth. If it is just damaged gel coat - sand them well, reapply the gel coat , or paint them.
How ever the EPO's look they will perform better than the original Lexan blades. (IMHO)

Yeah; I wouldn't put another layer of cloth over them unless you question their structural integrity. Otherwise I'd just fill the dings with epoxy and sand smooth.

Warm regards, Jim

The position of the clew block attachment determines the sail shape, as noted above. Scoot to leeward when sailing up-wind and peer up at the slot between the main and jib. Moving the attachment lower loosens the leech and opens the slot higher up / Moving it higher pulls down more on the leech and closes the slot. Adjust to get a nearly parallel shape between the main and jib.
