When is the next sailing event (preferably a distance sail) going to be?

May 11th we have a fun run down to the Clearwater Sailing Center for lunch - and back to the Dunedin Causeway. If I go I plan on allowing a newbie to skipper my boat. They are calling it a training day. Should be lots of fun.

MIke,

How difficult is it to navigate under the Sand Key bridge? Also what time is this going to kick off at the causeway?

Thanks,

Lance

Hi Lance:

I can't help you with the times, but I can give you "some" information about the bridge.

The difficulty in "doing the bridge" depends on: the wind direction, the wind strength, the tide direction and the tide"s strength. AND in what combination of the above.

We have all been through there numerous times. Follow someone into the pass, and let them go through first, then decide. You can usually make it out the pass back into the Gulf.

Hope this can be used as information. Oh, remember to take into account what the above variables will be "after" lunch.

Have fun, and might see you.

Dave

Mike,

Can you rig your uni to SL? My brother (also a Mike) bought a 5.5sl recently (end of last year), and sails near Gandy causeway. He was looking to shoot BS with other 5.5 folk. I think his e-mail is catman2345@aol.com. If you race, let him know, and he'll probably get there, too.
