Straight Outta Hell
The last day had us drifting around all morning in a calm left by severe thunderstorms that swept the area during the night. A southwesterly sea breeze wafted in just in the nick of time to beat the 12 pm race deadline, and the RC got one race of (instead of the scheduled 2 races). I don't have the full results in front of me but this is what I remember from the awards ceremony yesterday. In cases where I know the entrant and helmsman are different I have put the helmsman in parenthesis). In cases of boats sailing with only two on board, I have listed the crew member as well as the helmsman. In mixed classes I have listed the type of boat. Full results should be posted later this week on the Fort Walton Yacht Club web site.

Results (after one throwout) as best I can remember them:

Corsair 31 Class
1. Rocketeer III 31-1D Ken Winters (Randy Smyth) (won tie breaker)
2. Condor 31-1D Peter Freudenberg (Todd Hudgins)
3. Lei Loe 31-1D H. L. Enloe (Tim McKegney)

Corsair 28R Class
1. 50:50 Robert Onsgard/Robert Remmers
2. Bad Boys Bob Harkrider
3. Rocketeer II Ken Winters (Matt Scharl)

Corsair 24/750 Class
1. Malbec (Sprint 750) Don Wigston (crew Mike McGarry)
2. Tri Me (Sprint 750) Bob Gleason (crew Ira Heller)
3. Farfalla (24 MK II) Bruce Kuerten

[If the Corsair24s/F-24s were scored separately from the 750s the results were as follows:
1. Farfalla F-24 Mk II Bruce Kuerten
2. Mark Twain F-24 Mk II Bert Rice
3. Tri Power Ed Dixon F-24 MK II

Open Class (this is where my memory gets a bit hazy)
1. Panther F-25C Tony Hammer
2. Trevelyan Corsair 28CC Richard Stevens
3. Blue Heron F-27 Russ Kincaid

Overall Results: (first 5 places). Ian Farrier generously donated a very beautiful perpetual trophy to honor the overall winner, which has been retroactively engraved with the names of past year's overall winners. This will remain at the host yacht club (Fort Walton Yacht Club) until next year.
1. Malbec Corsair Sprint 750 Don Wigston (crew Mike McGarry)
2. 50:50 Corsair 28R Robert Onsgard/Robert Remmers
3. Tri Me Corsair Sprint 750 Bob Gleason (crew Ira Heller)
4. Farfalla F-24 Mk II Bruce Kuerten
5. Bad Boys F-28R Bob Harkrider

Finally a special trophy (The Windcraft Amateur Trophy) was awarded to Bruce Kuerten, Larry Shaw and Peter Clay on Farfalla, F-24 MK II for the best overall performance on handicap for an all amateur crew (no boat dealers, sailmakers, professional sailors, hired help etc on
board). Farfalla was 4th overall in the event on handicap.

Hope this helps to make up a bit for the lack of information as the event took place.

This sig would be something witty, but the censors are against that.

Does anybody have Ken Winter's email? I wonder if he also owns the big cruising cat I saw over in St. Maarten, called "Rocketeer" ? It had the same red letters and same script. Tim Bohan, F boat wannabee.
