Hiya all...

Well I got to finally sail my new mozzie on Saturday at my local club, Christies. Love it... coming from a Windrush was like learning in a mini then stepping up to a BMW, I couldn't believe how smooth it is. I had trouble with my downhaul as I was unfamiliar with the setup and ran out before max power we think.. as I had a fellow mozzie driver sailing behind me to check sail shape. I got it healing up but she felt bound up so needed more downhaul to open the leech up a bit more. To obtain sail shape though I had the mainsheet on really, really tight which was different, anymore and I would have been hauling with both hands. Anyway, finally got it in the water and had a heap of fun. Looking forward to many more days on the water. My sail is a Clifton if anyone has any comments on optimum sail shape

Hi Tony

One of the problems with Clifton sails is that the bolt rope extends right to the bottom of the sail. If you check out other sail makers (eg Goodall), you'll notice that the rope stops some 150mm or so from the "bottom clew", allowing the sail to scrunch up with more cunningham.

If you take it to someone like Allegaytor sails, they will fix.

We've had a couple of sails like this at Barmera. As you have found out, the Clifton sails don't allow enough downhaul to be applied.

Cheers

Steve

Steve

Wow, thanks for the tip, I hadn't noticed that
I was about to go to my local sailmaker and get a few things changed so I will add that to the list.

Cheers
