Posts: 943 East Gippsland, Australia | Here's an email I received recently - anyone know anything about Neil Fowler? All I know is he designed the Mosquito and the Arrow. I was hoping as you're knowledgeable about Neil Fowler designed catamarans, you might be able to point me in the right direction to get more information on them. My dad has recently bought a Red Baron and there's scant information (well, next to none that I've found) on this craft online aside from the news that both boat builders who constructed these designs in WA and Qld are no more.
Would you have any ideas on who might know more about the Red Baron ?
Thanks for your time, Geoff Steele

Posts: 943 East Gippsland, Australia | Mossie #1 was still in the hands of the Fowler family not that long ago....Hope it helps
Do you mean you've seen Mozzie #1? Wow! If you are in Darwin, do you know if there are any active Mosquitos up there?

Posts: 97 Adelaide, Australia | Probably useless info but a few months back when I was looking to buy there was one available in the trading post in Darwin for around 5G. Bit a drive from Adelaide so I let it go, hehehe...
Cheers

Unregistered | Hi all,
I was in Darwin last week, talked to cat sailors at the sailing club. They didn't know of any Mossies sailing up there at the moment. There where a few Cobras in the yard though . I saw Tornado's, A class, Taipans and Arrows one even had a spinnaker! along with a interesting one off overgrown Arrow come Dolphin with furling Gennaker sailing but no Mossies .
They need a modern Mossie with spinnaker to turn up and open their eyes. Anybody up for it, they have a regatta coming up in July.
Brilliant weather last week, about 30 degrees every day, wind picked up in morning and blew same direction until late afternoon every day, peaked at about 18 kts. for the week. wind offshore at the sailing club so water was flat everyday. Heaven on a stick for spinnaker cat sailing. It is supposed to be the same in July.
Regards Gary. | | | Re: Neil Fowler catamaran designs
