TimeZone converter

Thought this might help for us not familiar with GMT conversion to local time.

How about the same time on Thursday.

I will be in transit at that time. Please excuse me from the practice. In penance, I will wash the boats before the race.

I doubt I will be able to make it, during those times I will be deployed and the only connectivity I will have is dial-up. I tried playing but its worthless. Nothing but fatal connection all the time.

Sorry.

I can make it, the problem is the connection will not be the best and I would rather you guys NOT count on me for competing. If you can find someone to fill in, by all means do it. If not I will be there.

I'll be there at the race (05.09)
the suggested time for training at friday 24:00 GMT is too late for me. This means 02:00 in the morning...
how about the tactic in team racing?
Is it helpful if everybody tries to cover a selected opponent, as a kind of matchrace in the race?
or to have a leader and block others behind?

My best recomendation is the let the faster sailors in front, EVEN if you have ROW, let them by.
Cover as much as posible, without loosing speed.
Do not foul your teammate - thats a big no no.

Remember its a team thing, not an individual effort.

Can i underline ones again that the first rule in team racing, as robi also said, is NOT to foul your team mate.

It is always better to steer around him (or her) then foul him. Who needs to give way is easily determined by looking who is clear ahead or when even who is in the most tight spot relative to the competition.

For example; port tack starters should always be left running as they will need all the room and speed to keep clear of the starboard tack starters. When nearing a mark then the guy pinching must be left clear. etc.

I think Robi and I showed a very nice manouvre just minutes ago in team USA vs World. We totally locked up jake and forced him to sheet out his sails and sail below his layline. Don't you think Robi ?

Yep, what happened was, I was to windward of Jake, Wouter was to leeward. Wouter was leading by one boat length. We were all on port tack. I starting bearing off to take Jakes wind. He had to bear off as well, but could not, because Wouter would luff him, causing Jake to totally FOUL when touching Wouter.

Jake was doing the right thing, he was bearing off to get speed.

That is important in team racing, bear off to cover the oponent and take his wind.

I've only just picked up on this thread guys - sorry.

I'm surprised to have been included - based on my performances to date with Tacticat I shouldn't be even remotely near to being on it!

I have MAJOR connection problems with this game and massive lag on the commands, with boats jumping around the screen. I really don't think I should be part of this. Sorry.
