One thing I'm gearing up to do is send my old Pacific trailer to the scrap heap. Too many years of it corroding away in the Sarasota Sun have left it in need of at least a major refit and even then I don't know if I trust the basic structure of it anymore.

I'm curious what options may be out there, if anybody has any ideas or experience they'd like to share(or a good used trailer they're looking to part with) I'd be most interested. I'd love to do an aluminum one, but I've seen a price quote from Trailex.

I troll the Yahoo group too, so I'm looking to see what experience is over here.

We rebuilt our very scary trailer. I have no idea who built it originally. Of course, being connected to fabrication via oilfield, we are lucky in that we can send things to our friends and get them sandblasted and painted.

But, we still had to get new axles and other parts. The only thing saved was the A-frame, which is prolly the same as any other large powerboat trailer. You could find a big powerboat trailer and see if you can work with that.

We get our parts from Champion Trailer, which is in Slidell LA (near NOLA). That, and we made decking and fender guards out of plywood.

There's a trailer fabrication house south of Houston, in Santa Fe TX. http://www.sportsmantrailers.com/

They make a nice trailer. I have a cat trailer made by them, and when we lived in TX I had them do some work on another trailer. See what they have to say, might be worth it to you.

This sig would be something witty, but the censors are against that.

Keith,
My sister has a beautiful trailer for their F33. I think it was built by Great Lakes Trailer for not much more than a Trailex and much beefier and better quality.

A complete rebuild like that is about where my trailer is - I'm not sure there's much to save beyond the frame, and I have my suspicions there. It might be best left as a yard trailer that takes more of the dunkings but doesn't see road use. Sounds like you guys put a lot of hours into yours, it must be in real nice shape now.

We have a very good trailer place nearby, I might start by taking the trailer specs from the Farrier site and pay them a visit. It seems more people have gone this kind of a route than I thought previously, I had the idea that most just went with the known names (Pacific, FE, Trailex, etc.).

Tom - I don't know which I'm more envious of, the trailer or the boat! Ok, the boat. Very sweet indeed. Someday...

Sssuuuwwweeeeettt!

I do seriously believe that if that was my boat I'd never set foot on land again. Very, very nice.
