Whats the average cost to store a cat mast up on its trailer at a marina. The local lake says 600 a year, seems reasonable. I have no experience with this, how much is too much? What do you guys pay?

Is that for all year round? If so, yes, that is pretty reasonable.

Our Local club dues is about $500. for the 6 month sailing season here. But...we get a lot more than just mast up storage. Several great racing programs, social events, and more. Plus we can work off $200. of our dues each year after the first year.

I store mine at crosswinds marina on lake jordan in NC and it is $590. Other places I have checked were around there. Most self storage places run about the same.

Rudder Club is $30 per month for mast up ($360/year).

I pay $150 a year for mast up storage (gated and locked as well). But the lake also requires a year-round launch pass, which is another $100... so $250 total.

Going up to $480 (from $420), but can do 3 month increments. Requires $45 park pass.

Hokie,
I was looking at using that same marina. What do you sail? Do you like the marina? We should get together next year and sail out there. Trey is in Raleigh and sails in Wheeler most of the time but we can get him to sail Jordan with his club, maybe.

I've only been at crosswinds for a month and haven't launched from there yet, my apt didn't want the boat in the parking lot. If there is any wind I'll be out there this sunday. I hope to see trey out there at some point too!

Hokie used to sail at Lake Wheeler, when he was in the NC State Sailing Club...

dbncsu, I think I have sailed with you before on lake wheeler. I was there back when we were trying to do that winter racing series. The two times I went on Lake wheeler during the summer turned me off with all the skiboats circling me. I haven't been out on jordan during the summer but if it is the same or worse I will move to wheeler next year since it is cheaper. If I find some time I might join back with the club for some of the trips to the coast.

Trey, I am still looking for a cheap box and may contact you after the year's end if your friend will still build a new one. It depends on what I find when I visit my parents over the holiday.

Lake Jordan is just as, if not moreso, bad as wheeler. Only difference is that Jordan is bigger than a pint of water and you have more room to avoid the careening, budweiser-powered arseholes on skiboats and water-camaros.

If you want to really put your patience to the test, sail Lake Lanier during the peak summer season <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, I thought that was you. That was the last year they had the winter sailing series. I was talking to Bart a couple weeks ago and he said they probably won't do it again because they didn't get enough participation.

I haven't seen the storage facilities out at Jordan, but Wheeler is a good place to keep a boat that's relatively cheap. I would keep mine there if it was in Raleigh for more than a few weeks a year.

Come out and sail with us sometime.

There's also a 2 year waiting list to get into Wheeler.

See attached pic for a glimpse of Wheeler's wonder.

ps: Tad, look! It's your boat actually sailing <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Jordan is not that bad. The center of the lake seems to stay pretty clear. The skiers and wakeboarders have seperate coves that they seem to stay in. I was out there sailing 5 or 6 times this past summer and fished there maybe 20 times or more. The Vista Point beach access is good and camping available right there. The wind can be flukey at times or screaming down the fingers. Overall a good lake to sail I think.

I've launched out of vista a few times, having the beach to set-up is nice. Have you ever sailed on the north side? I really wish that bridge was about 10 feet taller.
