I think after yesterdays sail my cat has lost all its nine lives.
Went out to race went to tack and bent my tiller extension
Came in replaced tiller extension and went back out to have my boom come out in 18knt winds
went back out thinking what else could go wrong and then it all went pear shaped. While out on trap the shackle that hold the forestay and side stays let go so while under full speed Ive landed badly in the water hurting my back.
While bringing the boat in slowly the rope that holds the rudders down decided to let go on both rudders (no steering)got the mast and main on the beach to find a decent hole in the main as well.

So can anybody tell me what else can go wrong cause I think Ive just coped everything in the one day.

Ah never mind M8 you can borrow the PT if you like, Grege and I took it out yesterday in that wind for the sole purpose of seeing if we could destroy it, tough little buggers they are, pulled the rivots out of the swivel cletes attaching the cunningham to the mast, (dont realy need those anyway). Will replace with nuts and bolts. Broke the bracket on the traveller so just centered that and locked off. Greg in the mean time was trying to set a new water speed record for up and down the Bay and judging by the crowd he had at the club must have come very close to setting it :shocked.
Will be along for the race on Aussie day and decide on the day if the conditions will suit my limited twin hull experience.
Chin up M8 Ben Lexen says that if you dont break something then the boat is too heavy and too over engineered, by the sound of things your boat beaten up and busted in a few places must be just about perfect

just came back from the dr's, at first he thought a fractured rib but after xrays came up with a bruised muscle between the lung and the ribs. Not as serious but still bloody hurts.
Sent my ssail to get repaired bought new heavy duty shackles and modifying the rudder setup for ozzy day.
So long as my ribs dont bother me still doing the regatta.
Should come out Steve. Makes for two inexperienced cat sailors out there

Will,

You could have run aground and torn the centreboard cases out, or broken a front beam and pulled a chainplate out along with part of the hull then watch the deck slowly separate from the hull and the rear beam part company from it's mounting block.

So really it was a pretty quite day.

Regards,

Peter
