Just got an e-mail flyer from Cathouse. It states that 2 F20's are on there way to the states. One has been sold and is going to the Southeast US. OK.......who bought it?????
If Todd bought it, you can bet it wasn't a cash deal... and probably not goods-in-kind, either. That leaves "services rendered."
Easy Jdub, Your the one with the "There's something about Mary" hair. What's Jack got to do with it? Don't put my name and his in the same sentence. It's always Cash, John. One day they'll call me El Presidente.I think I'll take Venezuela today.I'm in the mood for a coup de etat.
There are about ten of them sailing at this regatta I'm at (North Sea Regatta). It really is a very good looking boat and is fast too in the right hands. The Viper with Bundy was crazy fast as well, there wasnt too much wind but they where faster then quite a few F 18 s (elapsed).

Ten, Huh? According to this post on SA #4 just hit the water.

No 4 is on water; damn fast that lady !! we got her two days ago and sailed for about 10h since from 5 to 20 knots. Our first impression: never ever pull the gennacker below 200kg. she really flies and sometimes jumps above the crest. We feared about pitchpoling after we pased 28knots, she sings like a mairmaid. but she's forgiving and gracefull. The carbonspar opens in gusts by itself. she's extremly manouverable and as Macca already experienced she loves sidesteps. The hull moves faster sideways as your feet can follow.

thank you Nacra for that big boys toy !!
there was a group delivery on friday at the start of the north sea regatta [Holland]
So I wonder how many have been pumped out of the factory total, then? You'd think there would be loads of info about how many have been made, how they did at that regatta, etc. It amazes me the media blackout that is Nacra here in the states. If you do get info from the factory, the odds are 50/50 as to whether it's true or not . The only info I have gotten that wasn't hearsay has come from Mark at CatHouse.

According to the race results six of them are sailing here, and I saw at least two more sitting at the Nacra office. Maybe he was talking about hull numbers? From what I heard about 30 boats are sold already, so maybe if will turn into a proper class.

I hope it does.Sounds like it all ready has in EU. I'd just like to see a little more promotion in the US. Jack told me,a good while back, that the boat was not going to be on the US market. It appears that it is.
Todd: I get plenty of information through my local dealer.
S.O.P. Bragging about crap without saying what it is. Look at me,Look at me. Bad Form. Either offer up some info or keep your fingers in your shorts and off the keyboard.
I've heard everything thats I've stated on this forum directly from my dealer (and another dealer across the country).
I don't like posting prices online because it kind of pits dealers against each other and I always feel like you should support the local dealer.
Fact of the matter is that the information WAS slow to trickle to NA dealers but once it did, I heard from both of them within 24 hrs as to the pricing and availability, trailer options and even when I could see one in person!
Fact of the matter is, "without saying what it is" ... I've posted everything I heard here on the forums and have PM'd people who asked for a price in private.
i own sailno. 4; don't know the hullno. what i heard is that 10 hull sets had been in the first shipment to nacra europe. If i can help with some information, don't hesitate to ask. regards from germany

Maybe the Euro vs. Dollar exchange rate changed Jack's mind.

Or someone with a check.
Heck I can write a check, I thought you had to have money.......
Got to take a peek at some parts arrayed on the floor.
The boards are sexy. Downright Sexy. Half as light as my N20 boards. The Rudders as well.
The board bag has the message: "Caution: Remove before flight" on it which was a nice touch. Mast is amazing quality it looks like. Light as hell. Sails were carbon kevlar and comes in three separate sizes for accomodating crew weight.
Something like that. 11 ft beams, tilt trailor. Definitely not your casual sailor's beachcat. I took a 5 min video of Macca talking about it which I will edit and post somewhere.
According to the Texel Rating the F20 Carbon weights 165KGs (363lbs). There was a long awaited race a few weeks ago where the F20Carbon raced against some M20-GTIs. The M20s got beat pretty bad, despite the crew skills being quite equal. http://www.hwsv.nl/portal/content/view/255/57/
I wasn't all that interested at first, but then I walked over and picked up the hull with one hand and that got my attention. Some day that technology will trickle down so a duffer like me can afford it. May extend my sailing life.
Well, I guess I can come out and say it. I've started negotiations with the war department to inquire as to possibilities of perhaps finding one of these in my boat lot.
Initial approach didn't work, but alternate avenues of negotiation might prove fruitful.
my cat is probably close to 600lbs at the end of the day when i push it up the beach.... uggggggg (i take on a gal or 6 these days)

good luck. when you "claim victory" .. let me know if you need crew ever.. i would drive over to ride that.... hell i would jog over to ride one
I helped load it in the trailer in Racine. It was impressively light. After loading a few F18 hulls it felt like close to half the weight. I'm sure it wasn't half. If I had to guess if the f18 hulls weigh in at about 100 I'd say it's like 60. Just a WAG.
I'm happy to see Performance still pushing the envelope. I'm not sure what Performance had in mind when they built it. I'd guess as an all out production distance racer at 20 feet.

So the new carbon speed machine weights the same as a well built plywood Tornado with alu mast. Good work!
I don't have time to build my own boat - nor do I have the know-how to make durable enough to make it last through the beatings I put my boats through.
Not saying you should build. Just pointing out how little progress there really has been on boat construction the last 30 years. Design progress on the other hand have been immense.
Nice kitchen. If you did that, you can easily build a nice boat.
Beatings. You think your are tougher than the rest, eh? I think not. It is just ignorance on boat construction and sailing loads on your side. Reckless sailing will always kill a boat unless it is ridiculously overbuilt.
Dont know why I bother posting. Now bugging off again.

This boat does not deserve to be in your boat lot. It deserves to be on the water.
You could just buy one without telling her. Like they say, it's always easier to get forgivness than permission. You're married now, what is she going to do.....leave you?

I know you're new at this - but there are a lot of different types of leverage and pain, other than "leaving", that could and would be applied.

My father said the same thing to me when I asked him how to approach it.
Difference is, my Mom actually jumped for joy when he brought home "her" porsche. (That she's not allowed to drive)

you have much to learn, grasshopper. Perhaps Sense' Ding might share a bit on how to successfully negotiate these hazardous waters successfully?
comment from the peanut gallery - but I think you mentioned that you were going to move the axle on the trailer forwards. Looks like you'll definitely need to do that!
The trailer is going back in the shop this weekend for more mods - axle forward, tilt rack back, lifting struts, mast posts, fenders, supports for the box, etc...
Some of the guys sailing that thing are terrified of it. Last weekend a couple of them rigged their boats for a longdistance race, then de-rigged them again when they saw it would be blowing 20-25kts (whimps!). The one that did go took the linehonours though:
So how much quicker is it compared to the old Nacra 20? Above 8 knots of breeze they can't keep up with the moth upwind or down. Only asking as I hear one of these new trucks is going to come to Singapore.
