I wish I knew this before! - 04/06/17 10:23 AM

The last five years I have more and more trouble with my arthrosic hands. Guess that this is the price which you have to pay as an 70 year old sailor.
But still, it became a growing problem when hoisting my old sail through the mastgroove which has some critical dents. And last but not least with uprighting my mast via this rope and lever system. Especially in doing this uprighting you have to grip multi times a line which is under high tension.

Tried everything on the market but was not willing to pay over 100 dollar for it.

So finally found recently the ultimo device for it in a French shipyard for half the money:

In one word its super, super. Works ultimo! Should have bought this years ago.

Unfortunatly its sold in the states for double the price:

interesting, so you yank that little rope yoke and it opens up the cam cleats?

"DESCRIPTION
Get a better grip on sheets and halyards with Karver's KJH Floating Cam Cleat.
The cleat does not mount to anything, and enables you to hold a small-diameter line that is under load more easily than it would be with one hand alone.
You can release the line simply by bending your wrist. A narrow-diameter Dyneema line connecting both ends enables this interesting looking gadget to become a cam cleat.
This cleat comes in handy in trimming dinghy and sportboat spinnakers, especially on long runs because it lets you relax your hand and let your forearm share the load.

Looks very similar to a Clamcleat Powergrip I have, which is certainly a lot cheaper smile

Hey hello fellowcountryman. Goeiemorgen.

I 'm familiar with the powergrip which you showed. I've tried it ofcourse, but I dare say that the difference in use is spectacular.
Not only the grip for your hands (I have size 11) but you don't have to cant it in order to activate the cleat.

Stop by my cottage if you are travelling to Texel this year and I will show you.

greetings

Defender sells something similar. After conversion the one you posted on the french website is $61.60 and with $6.60 in shipping (if you were in France) so aps doesn't have that terrible of a price given the import and shipping cost to get it here to the USA.

Hope this helps.
