Regatta mode is in full swing!

Late party last night, good breakfast this morning, getting ready for skippers meeting at 0930.

Registrations still trickling in, over 40 boats so far, closing in on 50!

Fog at the moment, standing by for AP ashore...

Got everyone launched, sorted an engine failure on the pin boat, and started racing at 1250 (AP down). All classes sailing, it's currently a drifter...

OK, we have a regatta. Wind came back up enough for everyone to finish well within the time limit.

Huge delay due to major (unplanned) shift to the South. Much more pressure for race 2. Much quicker race, just finished a few boats.

Race 4 in sequence. We're running short races, short-handed, so scoring will have to wait...

All races are now scored. The Gosling's is flowing, and the band sounds incredible!

Re: Roton Point Regatta 2017 - 09/17/17 05:16 AM

Conditions today we're tough in the first race (very light and shifty out of ENE), then an unexpected seabreeze came in, with a giant shift to the SSE, and much more consistent wind, averaging around 6-7 knots for most of the late afternoon. We used up all of the available breeze, and towed a few Getaways back to the club after finishing most of their class on the water in Race 4.

A few corrections have been made to the results. The band was Jam Chowder, and they sounded great on the historic porch at Roton Point.

The wind forecast for tomorrow doesn't look much better than today's forecast was, so hopefully they'll be wrong again!

Be sure to put this event on your calendar for next year! Same weekend, and will feature the Shark National Championship.

There's no shortage of things to keep you busy if waiting for wind here: table tennis, foosball, actual tennis, and a beautiful swimming pool. I think all were employed yesterday!

Thanks again to the 50 or so RPSA (and a couple of Fleet 448) volunteers who pulled this whole thing together.
