Is there a container of B Cats going to ROLEX? - 03/05/03 10:37 AM

Hello All,

1. I had followed a post about a container going out of Miami heading to the Caribbean the end of this month.
2. The reason was to race in St.Thomas for ROLEX REGATTA and
3. the next weekend race in TORTOLA,BVI at the BVI REGATTA
4. Did this happen
5, If so, who, and what machine, is racing

A bunch of U.S. sailors do this every year. A variety of beach cats go, not always the same. If you need more information about it, e-mail me, and I will give you the contact information for the organizer.

Okay, I just talked to Robert Onsgard, the guy who organizes this expedition every year. He said the container is at Miami Yacht Club right now and they are going to load it this weekend. Six boats are going this year -- three Nacra 6.0's, one Inter 20, one Nacra F-18, and one Hobie 17.

MAry and All,

Yeah!

This is gonna be a real good race week.

The winds Have not stopped blowing here for about 4-5 weeks,..the Trade Winds are apparently set up with no interferences...!

I mean, it blows the same speed at night as it does in the day.....15-20-25mph everyday for over a month now.....

OK,..great ,..Rolex in St. Thomas starts Friday, March 28,.....goes the 29th and 30th.......should be Beach Cats from Puerto Rico,...St. Croix,...St. Thomas...and always some surprize 'show ups'...

Is Nigel Pitt one of them?

Is the H-17 perhaps a FX-1?

Are the N 6.0 , F-18 , I-20 going in Spin class?

thanks for the update

Bruce,

Is Nigel Pitt one of them? Nigel is not signed up for this one.

Is the H-17 perhaps a FX-1? No...old style, but Stephen Acquart is a very good H-17 skipper.

Are the N 6.0 , F-18 , I-20 going in Spin class?

Yes, we are all bringing the chutes I believe.

Looking forward to a fun time.

All the best,

Jim,

Welcome to de islands, mon........this is going to be great for everyone!

There is 2 divisions in Rolex for Beach Cats,....Spin ,...and Non-spin

There is a site online,...but the links are not operating, so you cannot get past page one,....

You can check the St. T weather at the university site,..look for 'weather',...pick 'St. Thomas',...you will get the 'real time' stats plus a history , if you want,

go to;
http://rps.uvi.edu/WRRI/weathercenter.html

What else do you need?.....Make it known and the local will help out,.....

Of course, ...the #1 in each division gets a Rolex watch,...it could be you all ths year!
