Trailer Light Problem (Wesbar)

I have a set of Wesbar Low Profile tail lights. I'm having brightness problems. During the day, you'd never know I was signalling.

<br>I've checked the ground connections, rewired the trailer, etc., all to no avail.
<br>
<br>Is anyone else out there using Wesbar Low Profile Lights? Also, this is hooked up to a 1997 Nissan Truck with dealer provided convertors.

<br>If you're using the Wesbar lights, are they bright enough during the day?

<br>I've actually had two sets of wesbar lights, and IMHO, they're the best around.

<br>since you say you've doublechecked for good ground contact everywhere, the next most likely culprit would be the wiring harness connection. get both the males and females nice and clean.
<br>
<br>even though you've got dealer-installed wiring and stuff.... plug the trailer into another vehicle when you get a chance just to check.
<br>
<br>I know one person who had a 35' trailer, and it turned out that the length of the trailer was causing enough resistance to dim the lights, so he ran a dedicated ground wire from the harness to each individual fixture to solve the problem. HUGE hassle. extreme last resort.<br><br>

Tim, a bad ground will cause your turn signals to flash the side marker lights. 99% of trailer light problems are a faulty ground. Be suspect of the dealer installed harness and check the ground... sometimes they don't even get hooked up at all. Take a spare wire and run it temporarily from a ground on your truck frame to the mounting bolt of the tail-light to check this. If you have a meter, check the resistance between that wire and each bulb ground and harness ground to track down the failure... Running a wire ground on long trailers or old, rusty trailers is often necessary.

Turns out I had my wires crossed! Markers wired to turn signals and vice-versa!

I've been reading this post but it didn't peak my interest until I rememberd the experience I had last year with my new Nissan truck and trailer lights. I'm an electrical engineer and it took me 2.5 hours (at midnight no-less upon buying a new boat and planning to trailer it back for a 4 hour drive) to figure out that the bed on my new truck was not grounded to the frame. Go figure...be sure the bed has continuity with the frame before you (or the dealer) grounds the lighting to it. This even could have ramifications from a corrosion standpoint. Jake, that is true of many/most pickup beds. The lighting harness should be grounded to the frame, not the bed. The beds are typically mounted on rubber to reduce vibration and speed installation. The truck cab is grounded to the frame as it is impractical to run a ground to each electrical device there. <br><br>Mike Teets
