alpha omega/ f14 price - 09/05/07 10:26 PM

i am well into a prototype fast 14 footer but it is mostly second hand gear and for instance cut down tornado sport sails, so douse anyone have any idea how much a f14 homebuild would cost with new gear?

1 self build at cost in ply/appoxy stich and glue,
2 to make 1 out of a mould (not including the cost of the mold in carbon or kevelar or somthing along those lines
3 how much is a new alpha omega new in australia?

thanks rich

A brand new AO F14 ready to race/sail built completely from carbon IE carbon/Kevlar hulls, carbon mast with carbon spreaders and rotation control, carbon boom, spinnaker pole, cross beams, complete carbon rudder system (including T foil rudders) centre boards, and spinnaker chute, ALL in carbon, with all fittings the best available Harken and "high spec" sheet lines, plus race proven design “square head” main sail, and asymmetric spinnaker, sells ex factory for (Australian) $15,454.00 (plus GST where applicable)

Darryl, that is a very good price when converted to our currency, norwegian krone.

= £6,750 Sterling

Then you've got shipping and duty and VAT.

There are several small Hobies available in the UK - Dragoon, Twixxy etc priced at less than £6,000 delivered. Admittedly they couldn't hold a candle to the AO in performance!
I wonder what the total delivered to your door price for the AO would actually work out at?

That would depend on what manner you got it into the country <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Anyway, I was considering the price good for a high-performance sailboat for an adult.

For UK buyers add 17% VAT, about 3% inport duties and just under 1000 Pounds for shipping iself.

Say about 9000 GBP or 13.000 Euro's.

Only a tad cheaper then a Carbon masted Stealth F16, although that boat will then come with a jib setup and other stuff for 2-up racing.

What would that come out to in US dollars shipped to US port?

Bern,
Given what you get for your money an F14 is a hell of a lot more BANG! for your buck.
