I am the only one of the Spi sailors that has managed a consistent score cool . I am also being a good rep for my club and stopping all the visitors from getting last place - Straight 8's blush

Thanks for the updates an photos Peter.

So... Who is the Champ?

Trevor... nice row of 8's. I believe that would be viewed as incredibly fortunate in some cultures, and yes it was damn decent of you to sacrifice yourself like that. laugh

Cheers

Re: 2010 Spin States - 11/21/10 11:04 AM

GARY the only one to get consistently good results (worst of 3rd?) after that it was pretty much a mess that only pond sailing can cause.
Matt 2nd first two races 5th and 6th! but got ANGRY and won some
Tim 3rd and did a horizon job this morning
Neill 4th but started the series in style
BIG red 5th and earned the title of only swimmer for the series smile
Peter Nikiten 6th should of braught the chook magnet :p
Bill 7th tooo much talk of Taipans :p
Trevor 8th (as previously indicated) but he had company!
And Philip made quite a splash today with a 5th and a second.

Pete and the crew who managed the races, Thanks and well done.
It was all with no fuss and plenty of flexibility in races and waiting for the conditions.
I think everyone had a bit of fun and competition.

Hi all,

where are all the high speed action shots? These photo's give the wrong impression of Sugar Loaf, you would think there was no wind all weekend. cry

I always say, if you are on the wire with one hull up there is nothing to complain about. wink

Peter didn't bring his blue ute (Ford XR6 "Magnet" ute), when driven by P platers known as a chick magnet, the rest is obvious grin He chose to bring his new Toorak Tractor instead. whistle

I just thought you had more photo's when we where under spinnaker passing the finish line on Saturday afternoon when there was more wind. confused I was serious about people getting the wrong impression, because there was enough wind to make boat handling under spinnaker exciting at times. cool

Re: 2010 Spin States - 12/01/10 01:32 AM

The better photos were taken on Saturday when the wind was stronger. I have passed the full size files of these photos on to Tim for use on the website etc. Just to keep you going, I have added the one below.

Re: 2010 Spin States - 12/01/10 01:41 AM

Here's another one. As I was on the start/finish boat (not able to drive about to get better angles), I have a lot of obscured photos (poor view of skipper/crew).

Hey great shot of David on "Immunity" I bet he will want to get that one blown up. Now all he has to do is get that Araldite father off the kite sheet grin.

I knew you would have got some great photo's, well done and thankyou grin . Did you notice the mast bend in the shot of "Immunity" flogging the spinnaker shocked , gives a good idea of strength of the gusts crazy . Thanks to Tim for posting them smile

I included this one of Peter Nikitin - even though it is a tiny clip from the corner of a photo and very poor quality - just to show the mast bend!

Re: 2010 Spin States - 12/13/10 12:19 AM

I was checking out the mozzies with spin when I could'nt help noticing how the top of the mast above the hounds is stressed. Is there any way you can strengthen the top of the mast within the class rules. blush Tried to download picture from the spin states, just too hard!

Re: 2010 Spin States - 12/13/10 07:21 AM

I don't think the stress above the hounds has been a problem, Peter did find a crack after this weekend, but the mast has had a lot of use and had a internal hound fitting, which requires cutting a bigger hole than a external one.

Over the years I have been amazed at what the Mossie mast will put up with from the spinnaker shocked , all the stuff I was told in the early days of spinnakers broke other masts crazy . So I don't think there is any need for more rigging whistle .
