Vic States 11-13th March - 03/06/17 07:17 AM

Hi all,

Vic states are on at Altona this weekend, be good to get some more boats pre entered, so go to the Mossie site and click on the link, saves you time on the day and helps the club with catering.

Currently entries are (adjusted by what I have been told) Sloops leading with 6 boats, Cats with 5 and Spinnakers with 4.

There is a young very good crew available (Jamie) has experience (current National Spinnaker Champion) he would love to sail the states and is looking at buying a Mossie in the future, but needs to know as early as possible if he has a spot, so please let us know. I don't think he will be going to Altona unless he knows he has a crew spot before hand.

Some interesting crew combinations in the mk2 fleet.

Yeah looks like a interesting series all round, interesting resurgence in sloop rigs, by many that don't normally sail together.

Most interesting will be if the light wind hoo-doo that has haunted the states for some time will be blown away.

The BOM forecast for Port Phillip bay is as follows.
Saturday 11 March
Winds
Variable about 10 knots becoming south to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the early afternoon then becoming variable about 10 knots in the late evening.
Seas
Below 1 metre, increasing to around 1 metre during the afternoon.

Sunday 12 March
Winds
North to northeast 5 to 10 knots shifting southerly early afternoon 10 to 15 knots and increasing 15 to 20 knots later in the afternoon.
Seas
Below 1 metre, increasing to around 1 metre during the evening.

Monday 13 March
Winds
Southeasterly 10 to 15 knots
