Charlotte Harbor - 01/16/12 09:32 PM

http://www.charlotteharborregatta.com/wordpress/

Only a couple of weeks to go. It was a pretty good time last year.

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/16/12 10:39 PM

I was all set to go to this one, got the days off, mentioned it to my wife today when I got home from Tradewinds...nearly got a boot in the Nutz!

She said (screamed actually), "YOU JUST got home from a WEEK LONG VACATION IN THE KEYS WITHOUT ME, while I was WORKING ALL WEEK...and you think you are going to ANOTHER REGATTA??!!"

I said, "Well it's not until Feb. 4...

She, "WE are going to a WEDDING that day!!"

I had no idea, but her horses vet, whom I think I've actually seen twice in my life for about 10 minutes each time, is getting married on Feb. 4 and invited us (her really, but I have to go??) to his wedding.

I think I'll have to call him tonight, try to talk him out of getting married, and into racing with me at Charlotte instead!

My opening line, "Look at me, look at her, This could happen to you..."

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/16/12 11:04 PM

Okay, so ... I didn't put Charlotte Harbor on my schedule as I didn't think my skipper would want to go to another regatta so soon ... after all she's got other things in her life to do too -- right?

Not a chance, on Sunday night at the dinner when everyone talked about Charlotte Harbor she looked at me and said:

Her: "We ARE going to that one aren't we?"
Me: "uhh, sure ... let me check my calendar" wink

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/17/12 06:47 PM

Is there 2 and 3 day scoring for this event?
Posted By: Timbo

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/18/12 02:04 AM

Pete, where, exactly, is the "Charlotte Beach Complex"? I was just reading the SI's for the regatta, looks like we set up there on Thursday afternoon, and register, and party Thursday night, then racing starts at 10am on Friday...so...what road is the beach complex on?

I have been trying to google it with no luck.

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/18/12 10:57 AM

I can't remember the street names. I'll look the directions up and post them this evening.

Debbie will have me chained to a power washer beginning in about an hour but I should be through by mid afternoon. I'll be humming "Ode to Joy" the entire time.

From Sebring coming in on US 17, turn right on 41N and cross the Peace River Bridge. Turn left at Edgewater Blvd, 2nd traffic light. Turn left again at light on Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte Beach is at the end of the road.

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/18/12 03:06 PM

Ahh...ok, so it's on the north side of the 41 bridge, then go left. Thanks Jack.

I wasn't sure if it was up there or way out at the mouth of the river.

Still only two f16s registered.

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/25/12 02:15 PM

Thanks for the reminder Pete, I just did it.

Now, I have a question; I see there is a Knox Rodgers also registerd. Anyone know him?

Many years ago (25?) I met a Delta pilot on a layover who said he raced Snipes on Lake Lanier, just north of ATL. Could this be the same guy...or maybe his son? He was registered at Tradewinds but was a no-show.

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/25/12 02:34 PM

Knox raced at the 2011 Nationals. His home club is Lake Lanier Sailing Club......think he's your guy!

BTW, you need to check out his trailer. I think you only need to pull one string and it is ready to go grin...or damn near that!

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/25/12 02:43 PM

Spring Fever scoring will be used at Charlotte Harbor. Brian Gleason verified it with the event organizers last night.

You haven't even begun to feel the shame that is coming your way. When we get done with you Karl not even the F16 fleet will want you back. On the bright side they are coming out with the F18 (Nacra 17) you asked for so there is that.

Eww..so when you are done with him, he's going to be sticky, broke and confused.

You, crying, bleeding from a recent anal injury with a misplaced look of shame from your recent rape?

Yeah, a bit of a tingle.

I can't blame the guy for wanting what he wants although his desires are a little disturbing but hey who am I to judge. Anyway Karl the bad news is I'm into the ladies the good news is you'll always have the hug on the beach.

Re: Charlotte Harbor - 01/26/12 01:25 PM

While we're doing all this hugging, what are we gonna do if we have only the small fleets registered? 18s & 16s?

I'm going to drive by there this afternnon or tomorrow morning. As I remember from last year, people were setting up starting on Wednesday. I know that several boats are here waiting to go.

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise! 79 degrees and 10-15 with a light chop.
