Hi All,

Quick question if anyone is about...

My hook/pulley set up fell to bits last week and I sailed on Sunday with a pretty dodgy fix. I now have my new bits from AHPC which are different to the old bits. and I'm putting it on tonight for the weekends sailing.

Question.... Hook and pully lined up with track?, hook in centre and pulley offset? or pulley in centre and hook offset?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Cheers

Hi Peter.

I've got slightly different bits. The gave me a Taipan hook bent to fit the mozzie section and a pulley on a plate. My mast has a section of track cut away at the top so I couldn't use your set up. The pictures have given me an idea of the offset so I should be fine. I'll centre the hook and offset the pulley a little. I guess I'll find out if it will unhook at the end of business tomorrow. blush

Thanks for taking the time.

Cheers

mast hook

we have the same hook/pulley setup as the taipan on the capricorn. you can see there is no offset at all. the "idea" is hoist the sail straight up and hook on, then rotate the mast to unhook.

Thanks Dazz and Peter.

All worked well today with one exception. Because of the corrosion I had under the old one the new hook is a little lower than the old.

Having not moved anything at the bottom of the mast (hind-sight is a wonderfull thing) I couldn't get the sail flat enough which turned out to be pretty inconvenient in the 25 knots and 1.5m chop we had today. shocked

Net result, 2 swims, a DNF, a DNC and a broken trap set up. On the upside I guess it's always good to get some righting practice laugh.

Looks like another night in the shed. Ahh... the joys of sailing grin

Cheers
