I brought the boat in today to get painted white, I'll have pictures up as soon as i get the crossbeams and tramp back on. Does anyone have any input on redoing the trailer crossbeams that the boat sits on? Iv seen people cut plastic piping in half. On my trailer the rollers dig in too much on the sides and im looking for a better solution. Thanks

While your boat is in bits. Turn the hulls over cover them in plastic then carpet and then lay up some custom cradles. Only advice is add a few layers at a time so you don't expose the hulls to too much heat.

My solution to hull cradels was to find some throw-away construction site 10 inch PVC pipe.

I cut out two lengths about 12 inches long and then cut those in half along their center lines.

I then put the four halves in the oven at a low temperature to make them pliable. (WHen heated they get rubbery.) While those were heating, I left then house and turned the boat upside down on the lawn.

After a bit, my wife came out a bit unhappy with my use of her cooky sheets and oven.

I waited until I thought both the cradles and the wife were hot enough and then simply layed them on the underside of the upside down boat and let the cool.

As they cooled they easily conformed to the shape of the hull.

After they were cool, I cut slits in the cradels perpendicular to their center line to recieve some large hose clamps. Then I glued a bit of carpet on to the cradles for padding and attahced them to the trailer support arms where the hulls sit.

Cheap (aka free), easy and they continue to work great.... after lots of miles and many seasons of sitting in the sun and being in and out of fresh and salt water....or being covered with snow as they now are.

Bummer..... Is it Spring yet..?

Thanks for the advice, i think im gonna try the PVC pipe tip because it seems pretty easy.

The prep work went well. Since the i had the hulls unbolted and stored in my garage it was really easy to work with. I first had to remove the strip on the side ( PAIN IN THE butt) then sanded the whole boat down. There were some areas that i went over with something similar to west system.

Ryan, you're breaking my heart buddy. That thing was such a cool shade of red.

Yep, I'm down there fairly frequently, I also sail on Cannon Lake outside of Faribault on a regular basis. In fact, I saw your boat in person last year on Lake Pepin when the previous owner had it. He was supposed to sell it to me when he got bored with it! I had big plans for that boat, a mast with diamond wires, a spinnaker, T-foil rudders, and probably a modern main.

Probably wouldn't be hard to get it to fit F16 rules, being competitive on the other hand....
