Charlie,
Another way to wet out carbon cloth is to weigh all the cloth used in the layup and then figure out the weight of resin needed to give you a 50% volume ratio for the carbon fiber. Carbon is about 120 lbs per cubic foot and epoxy is 55 lbs (very approximately!)

Kevin great to meet with you last week-end. Speaking with you and Jim Ryan gave me a new breath for my project. I have a few new ideas after my visit. Still trying to figure how to get the mold to Fl.

Thanks Kevin, Although I can't figure out a cubic foot with stuff that thin the scale weight of the cloth can be cut in half easy enough. Molds this big make me itch just thinking about it.

isn't that PVA release the green stuff that smells like Chloraseptic? I bought a couple of bottles from the local marine store and sprayed it on over the gelcoat. Granted, these were miniscule projects compared to Manshed's deal, but it worked out pretty well for me. Washed off with soapy water.

Dave,
If you want to have some fun with this you need to change identities from hobbyist to professional builder. Fortunately this only takes a second - just think up a cool name for your 'company' and start using it in e-mails. Although I'm a backyard builder, I assumed the name 'Advanced Marine Composites'. All of a sudden material vendors were lined up at my door.
If you follow this advice and e-mail Airtech International and ask tem what vaccum bagging consumables they have avaiable, you will recieve a 3 ring binder 4 inches thick with samples and technical info on everything imaginable. hope this helps,
Kevin
