St. Louis, MO,
Just heard it looks like a class of F16's coming to Muddy Waters here in Carlyle. 5 boats at least. I just wanted to pass along the word here.

Here is the info I posted on the main board in case you missed it.

Big News!!!

Muddy Waters Regatta will be held Oct 3,4 2009 on Lake Carlyle near St. Louis.

World Champion Lightning Sailors are going to compete in this regatta. Dan and Tobi Moriaty just got back from crewing for Matt Fischer and winning the Lightning Worlds. They are borrowing a Nacra 20 to compete in the Muddy Waters Regatta.

This should be interesting. They don't have a lot of experience with a high performance cat and it will be interesting to see how they make it go. They have lots of experience on Melges 24's and such. They have even done well in the past on an H17. We might even be able to get them to talk about their World's experience.

This regatta is a can't miss regatta. We will probably end up with 4 classes or H17, TheMightyHobie18, Low PN (N20, F18, A-cat, N17, ...), and High PN (H16, H14, Mystere 4.3, ..).

We will be serving Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner at the regatta. Camping next door.

We have a sandy beach and a big lake to sail on.

Just two weeks away! Don't miss it!!!!

Here is the link.

I saw the post on the main forum and was pleased to hear of the F16s coming to the regatta. It'll be the first open regatta where F16s from various parts of the country will be mixing it up. It'll be interesting to hear their stories and see if their techniques are dramatically different (as they have been learning to sail their boats in separate pools - so to speak).

Some good sailors in that group, as well.

Thanks for making them feel welcome.

Overall, the regatta was good. CSA is a very nice facility with great people. Good wind on Saturday, but no wind on Sunday so no races. Maybe 30 boats total. H16, 17 & 18, a few A's, F18, 20s, & the F16s.

We ended up with fewer F16 boats on the water than expected. Oley and Joanna could not make it due to Oley's back problem. I also had a back problem and stopped after the second race. Two single handed boats decided to team up because we had pretty good wind. That left just two F16 boats on the water. I left on Saturday to hit the heating pad, but I believe Andy won the low portsmouth.

Andy and Michael are very good sailors, but they had a secret weapon that weekend...... a boat that was christened and blessed by the wind gods grin. Don't ask me how I know.... Kudos to them for a good event.

Do you know if the results are posted anywhere? I did a quick look at the CSC website a few days ago, but did not see anything.

Muddy Waters 2009 results Just checked this morning to see how the Kruegers from Lincoln faired on their new Cap (and see they didn't make it). I hadn't quite finished the H17 re-build so had nothing ready to race, but Dan and Kelly were kind enough to invite me to ride down with them and check out all the modern technology (their Cap, all the Blades, Joe's A) Note to self - check out a F16, in the flesh...next season.
