I've found intellicast to be really good with the "Windcast" tab after you get to your area through the top "Find a Forecast" tab.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Looks like somewhere from 10-20 for this weekends first Fall Series in Panama City Florida.

ScaredyCat

I found that www.weather.com is also pretty good. If you enter the city you'll be sailing in at the top of the page and then click on "Local", it'll give you a ten day forecast. If you click on "more details" for the day you'll be sailing, it will give you an hour-by-hour forecast for the winds. I used this last weekend, and it was dead on.

We have a VERY extensive list of WEATHER sites and real time weather on our site: http://www.sailingproshop.com/weather.htm

If you have suggestions for links or items for us to add

Mark A. Hey Mark -

10-20?? You've been talking to that dreamer, Mike Wilson. After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.

The Undergroud link works well and is simple. Nice contribution!
Also, for all you folks out there you don't have to be enticed to someone else's site.., We also have a ton of Weather Links on [color:red]THIS VERY SITE for weather. Just click on "Great Links" in the left-hand index or click on this hot link http://www.catsailor.com/cs_sailing_links_weather.html

Rick

Rick White
Catamaran Sailor Magazine
email: rick@catsailor.com
Dar John,

Are you IMPLYING that I am a LARGE person?! I've been really good today, I've had a FEW taquito's from What-a-Burger for breakfast, a Chinese All-You-Can-Eat Buffet for lunch and for dinner ONE large Pizza Hut Supreme Pizza...I'd call that the absolute model of restraint!

See you in the parking lot at 7:30...but remember: My stomach has been stretched and I'll be needing something like a Waffle House Steak and Eggs (with a sprinkle of Loess?), so don't mess with me!

Mark

Weather underground is a good site but I found one that give hourly forcasts and has been right on more often than not. Its at www.accuweather.com. (http://www.accuweather.com/adcbin/local_index?nav=marine) Input the city and state and go from there. The hourly forcasts are great and the marine weather generally gives a week view with avg wind and gust estimates. I generally use this and weather underground (http://www.wunderground.com).

Don S.
I20 #236

All of you have some good ideas, so here are mine as well. I have found [color:green]iWindsurf to be the most comprehensive wind and tide readings, while [color:red]the WeatherUnderground has been the most historically accurate in my area [color:blue]Virginia Beach, VA. How about a poll to settle on a fave, just for grins?

If I left out your favorite site, I apologize. Also, these have mostly been defaulted for the Virginia Beach, VA (Hobie Fleet 32, Division 9) and surrounding areas. They are easily modified by either map-clicking or entering a zip-code for the area you want to know about.

L8r!

Checkout this one:

Their full SoCal wind page is at: http://www.nawcwpns.navy.mil/~weather/mugu/mesodata/analysis.html
I have found this to be very useful for spotting wind trends and correlating them to general weather patterns.

Sail fast and have fun,
Alan Thompson
I20 - San Diego

I suppose that's all fine and good, but do you know if there's a comparable link east-coast? In my limited searching, coupled with my restricted knowledge of naval acronyms, I haven't much of an idea where to look. There are several links on your listed page's homepage that point towards the NDBC, though. Just wondering, it looks like it might be a useful tool...

Well, the poll ended up a three-way tie between the WeatherUnderground, iWindsurf, and Intellicast. Not a whole lot of votes in the 3 week run, but oh-well. Thanks for your votes. View the poll results here: [color:red]Weather Sites Poll Results
