Ok so i'm getting ready to change out all my ropes and i was wondering if anyone had some recommended lengths and sizes for the mainsheet and jib. I have a 6:1 2.25 blocks. Also, what does everyone think about putting those cables that the jib car slides of and down, underneath the tramp? I remember seeing awhile back someone that had sewn two thin slices into their tramp where the jib blocks could reach the cable underneath the tramp. Since i sail mostly solo and mostly for recreation, i don't mind giving up a little performance for a cleaner tramp. Thanks all!!

I am putting a 5.2 together now, and I ran the jib wires from the front crossbeam, above the tramp, through one slot, under the tramp, back up through the other slot and back over the tramp again to the rear beam. I don't know if this is right, but it makes sense to me. The wire being above the tramp in the rear is going to be bad on the legs, but I'll cover it with hose or somthing. If it ran under the tramp, then I think it would wear a hole in the tramp.

The tramp I have came from Sunrise Yacht Products and has the slots cut into them and reinforced from the manufacturer. It is a VERY nice tramp!

I am putting one boat together out of 3, so I have several exampes to look at. On another, it has wires running under the tramp that look to be there for frame rigidity and then it has wires running parallel to them ABOVE the tramp for the jib blocks!

If anyone out there thinks I'm off base, please let me know! I've seen it done so many different ways, it is hard to figure it out sometimes!

I'm pretty sure the wire in question should only be on top of the trampoline between the two slots - this is where the jib blocks would typically attach. The whole idea was to get the wire away from the skipper's knees.

Jake has it right. The boat originally had the wires above the tramp the whole way from the front beam to the rear beam. Most of us modified our boats to move the wires under the tramp where they did less damage to crew & skippers legs. The wires should start below the tramp on the front beam, pop up through the slot & drop back under the tramp in the rear slot and be dead ended on the bottom of the rear beam. Most of us also moved the wires inboard about 2" to make the boat point better.

Another thing that came out on the later model 5.2 besides the under tramp jib wires was the elimination of the center
beam. You can remove it, just install rivets through the beam straps to stop the cross beams from rotating. Really
cleans up the tramp and provides extra tramp to boom clearance.

Mainsheet length for a 6:1 lo-pro is usually 42-46 feet. Add another 15' if you use your mainsheet to control the main traveler.

Jibsheet, I run about 32-35'.

I think it is 100% better when you have the jib wires below the tramp.
