I’m looking for ideas with a rudder problem. Here are the details:

2001 Nacra I 20. Rudder, when loaded up no problem. When not loaded, the stainless, screw that goes into the rudder casting from the top gudgeon wiggles. Annoying as annoying gets and is probably getting worse.

Possible solutions?

Put a nut on the screw to tighten it down. Rake is about six threads showing from the casting, then after the nut is on (depending on nut size) it's only one or two threads showing.

I used to tighten the nut against the casting when the rudder was on the pintle, then the whole threaded eye turns tight against the pintle and is supper snug.

Don't turn the nut tight against the casting while on the pintle, as this can hurt the integrity of the pintle weld. Tighten the nut while the rudder system is off the boat, just make sure the eye of the screw fits over the pintle properly.
