IWHCA Meeting Minutes
Annual Meeting – Dec 2, 2004

• Attendees: Rick White, Mary Wells, Dave White, Leah, Jason, Chip Short, Barb Short, Dan Kulkoski, Tom Cottingham, Kathy Kulkoski, Bob Bergstedt, Sharon Woodruff, Stan Woodruff, Mary Lou, Hollis Caffey
• Location: Mary and Rick’s house
• Rick calls the meeting to order at 7:45pm
• Rick: $20 dues are owed if you did not pay them at Wave Worlds
• Old Business:
o Worlds: great time was had by all; some discussion as to whether it was truly a Worlds; may impact eligibility for Olympics or Pan Am games which could have impacted attendance; 7/8 nations represented; plan to do it again; Mary says ISAF can allow us to call it a Worlds if they want – typically they give approval to any recognized international class; used $249 sails from China which were fine
o Rule Change: clew plate changed to allow any number of holes, not the 5 in the original rules
• New Business:
o Next Worlds: sent to subcommittee led by Stan and Mary (Dan 1st Sharon 2nd on motion passed w/one against)
o Possible merging with Hobie Wave class: Rick had discussion with an HCA officer; major rule differences include minimum body weight, minimum boat weight, open sails, open tramp and righting line diameter; all came to naught when HCA ended discussion w/Rick
o Rules need to be updated/simplified: sent to subcommittee of Chip, Dan and Tom (Barb 1st, Kat 2nd on motion passed w/one against)
o Dan: how do we get more boats to the Nationals? Charter boats; attendance was down due to hurricane in Pensicola; West Coast people not attending; Ohio area replacing Waves w/other boats; where are all the other Waves?
o Charter boats: sent to subcommittee of Mary (Dan 1st, Rick 2nd on motion, passed unanimously)
o Officers: maintain same officers for next year (Chip 1st, Sharon 2nd on motion, passed unanimously)
o Motion to adjourn: (Kat 1st, Stan 2nd on motion, passed unanimously)
