I am sure you have already cheked, but also make sure the outhual on the boom is loose. A little lube goes a long way too. I had a problem with my prindle and the top pulleys were worn and badly grooved. I changed them and it is very easy now. The grooved pulleys kept the wire stop from going up over the top of the mast.
