I MUCH prefer the elongated dogbones you have in your photos, especially solo. Tie it on in the middle. Use the small ring trapping midships upwind and the long ring to trap 4 inches lower for stern work off the wind. No clamcleat adjuster necessary. The "Can't Miss" wire rings are unnecessary fluff. Why have two handles? The Tornado guys I’ve see use a single ring about 2 inches in diameter. Very simple and all you really need.
You DO need to rework your bungie setup. You want the bungie to pull the ring UP to the trap wire. You pull the ring DOWN to hook up. Sitting astern of the trap, when you unhook it flies up and forward, whacking the crew in the face and reminding them who's captain. If you sail solo, getting whacked yourself is pretty rare. If you sail with crew they will get whacked unless you’re real careful, a time wasting concern. On a 5.0 crew is just dead weight and slows you down. Whack ‘em a few times and you’ll always sail solo. Much faster.
